We're all toast.

Unless we fix these 3 things - which would instantly solve 80% of the world's problems.

Here's #1.

(Thread ⬇️)
Public School.

Let me explain...
In the mid 1500s U.S...

Public school was set up as a way to help people understand each other.

Simple.

But then...
In the late 1800's...

Dude named Horace Manning and his crew saw that the Prussian school system had a good reputation.
So they copied it.

Because why not? Right?

But here's what's crazy…
The premise of the Prussian school system was...

"Respect authority." 🚩

Keep that in mind.

Then a few decades later...
The Industrial Age happens.

Which was great. 👍

Except...

At the time factory owners needed more factory workers.

Because for some strange reason…
Zero people liked working in a hot & dark factory for 8-12 hours everyday.

So what did the factory owners do?
They "swayed" the public school system. 🥸💰

So the curriculums were redesigned to condition children for factory work.

And they did a good job.
So now - right now - we have a school system in the US that's designed to…

1. Respect authority
2. Condition kids for factory work.

In other words...
Conformity.

Here's what that looks like…

"What's wrong with that" you ask?

Well...

Have you ever been to Prussia?

Me neither.

Because it no longer exists.
It became Nazi Germany.

You're familiar with the story - right?

With that guy and the gas chamber thing and the big war and all that?

Also...
We don't work in factories anymore.

Yet we're still being conditioned to.

Where's this all lead?...
"Not a choice."

That's what the teacher said to my 5yo.

And that's why he's now homeschooled.

Because there are good choices.

And bad choices.

But there's NEVER "not a choice."
Public school is optimized for the wrong stuff.

If we continue on like this we're doomed.

So the question is...
What can we do about it?

Here's what I propose.

First idea…
We should reset the premise of school.

Both overall and specific aspects.

For example…
Homework.

A guy named Roberto Neveils invented it as punishment for kids with behavioral issues.

So how the hell did homework become a requirement? 🤷🏾‍♂️

Second idea...
We should focus less on set paths.

And more on building an autonomous & nurturing environment.

(Meaning stop bossing kids around.)

Think about it like this...
You don't have to teach a flower to bloom.

Under the right conditions it'll bloom on it's own.

Same concept with humans.

The bottom line here is…
School should be a lot less of this:
📝📖📓👨‍🏫

And much more of this:
🧘🏾‍♂️🏃🤸🏋️🚴🧗🏌️🏇🤺⛷️🚣🏊👨‍🔬🔭🔬🗺️♟️
75% of people between 30 & 45 feel stuck.

No one should be forced to memorize useless info.

Because that's how feeling "stuck" happens.

The truth is...
We learn best when we can practice making our own decisions.

Not by memorizing the 'ONLY' right way to do a thing.

Last idea...
Validation should be real world.

Not based on grades.

Because we don't get paid or laid for the same reasons we get 'A's.

So…
Instead of being taught the "correct ways."

How about learning to make valuable things.

If people want to pay for it - then it's valuable.

Since that's how the real world works.
"Not a choice."

Imagine if the majority of people believed that a choice was not actually a choice.

Now...
Imagine a world where "understanding each other" was the norm.

Which would you prefer?
Let's recap...

Public school was a great idea originally. It still is if we...

•Make it about "Understanding people."
•Encourage autonomy.
•Create a nurturing environment.
•Use real world validation.
