SEFF remembers Sean Cairns, 19, RC machinist, living with his parents in the Clonard area of Belfast, who was watching television on 31/12/79, when a gunman from an unspecified Loyalist group, burst into his home & shot him in the head. His father was seriously wounded in head ..
..& face. A female family member said that upon going into the hallway she saw a man standing inside the front door. She said: "he was wearing a parka jacket & had both his hands in his trouser pockets. The hood was up & I thought it was 1 of Sean's friends, so I opened the ...
living room door".

She said the man didn't speak & walked into the living room where he produced a gun & started shooting Sean & his father & then calmly walked out of the house without saying a word.

The Jan/81 inquest was told by Sean's father that he felt a burning ...
..sensation in his face & then looked at his son. He said: "he was slumped in the chair with a bullet hole in his temple & the rest of the family were in hysterics".

The coroner said: "this is another of these sad, insane, motiveless, random sectarian assassinations which ....
..occur all too frequently in Northern Ireland".

SEFF's thoughts and prayers are with all innocents impacted by the brutal murder of Sean.
