So following up the fluffy boys image, I figured I'd do some of my favourite... erm, I guess, unconventional(?) girls?
All have come about relatively recently - 2 from recent cartoons and 2 from indie game titles.
Some additional posts & thoughts in the thread:
I came away from DR with Susie as my clear favourite.
Troubled kid, but the friendship that builds between the cast, especially Kris and Susie, breaks her out of her shell.
Also she's a really well written, natural LGBT character?
She and Noelle are frankly adorable together.
I don't have any particular nostalgia for OG DuckTales - I was a tad too young for it when it was on TV!
But what I do remember was just, really finding the OG Webby irritating. Even as a kid, I disliked 'kid appeal' characters, and OG Webby is right up there.
But.. reboot Webby?
Favourite character on a show that has a really appealing cast.
Not being a completely flat character and having a really sweet story arc goes a long way.
And maybe the fact she is an awkward kid means she's easy to empathize with, when you were also a awkward kid growing up.
And T'Ana is a recent addition to the Star Trek franchise, from the shockingly good Lower Decks show.
Probably the best first season Star Trek has ever had since the The Original Series.
(I know that sounds like damning with faint praise and all, plus Trek is in a rough patch.)
Yeah, ST: Discovery is borderline 'worse than fanfics' unwatchable at times, and Star Trek: Picard was way too depressing for its own good.
But if you can get past the art style & early episodes being a bit too gory IMO - Lower Decks feels like Star Trek.
And it's really good!
I know, it doesn't look it, yes, the art style is VERY much inspired by Rick & Morty and the first trailer was kind of crap - but its Star Trek! Really!
It follows up on a lot of stuff from Next Generation Era & is a rare instance of Star Trek managing to be consistently funny.
LD's entire premise is solidly used - a 'average' Starship cleaning up after TNG Era stories, told from the perspective of non-bridge officers.
The team behind the show clearly love Star Trek and absolutely dig deep when looking at canon.
Er, should talk about T'Ana now, huh?
Of the main cast, T'Ana, (or Mrs Swears A Lot), is a really neat counterpoint to the original Caitian of Star Trek.
Despite being yet another "Southern Trek Doctor", I think she makes her own mark among them.
& she's cute, in her own scruffy ally-cat sort of way.
So, I like her!
Finally Boki gets here less on personality and just another recommendation as a game for Mega Man fans:
Copy Kitty is a pretty damn good MM inspired Indie game and the combination system and shorter stages adds a cool twist to otherwise MM gameplay.
It is seriously cool.
Much like Lower Decks, I know the art isn't all that to look at in screenshots or renders - but it looks pretty nice in motion - thanks to a combination of shaders , particle effects and the utter insanity that results from the combined weapons - try to check it out in motion!
