#Screenwriters, besides the writing, prepare for future success by having these 5 things ready. 1. HEADSHOT: high rez photo. Your face is fully visible, you look normal, and are well lit. Doesn’t have to be expensive-ask a friend. No selfies or improv face. See Actor/Writers.
2. BIOS: Have three variants/versions. This is single spaced.
These are rough estimates. Don’t worry if you don’t have much, you will soon.
3. CONTACT METHOD that isn’t social media. More trad places don’t do it. They wanna email or call you.
At min have a static, 1-2 page website.
Best if you have your own domain name but that costs $. For now use Wix, Squarespace, and Yola, for free.
4. CLOUD-BASED storage/file sharing. If requested for your stuff, you won’t always have time to get to your computer. Use your phone to efficiently reply with your scripts, headshot, and bio. Try Google Drive, Dropbox, iCloud, Box, One Drive, etc. But attach. Don’t send a link.
5. 1-2 MIN PERSONAL PITCH: Sum up your whole deal when someone asks, “Tell us about yourself.” It’s not a resume dump. Shouldn’t sound rehearsed or that they surprised you. Leave ‘em with 2-3 things they can remember. These’ll all save time when you’re slammed. I hope it helps.
