Kentucky Democrats did big things this year. As we say goodbye to 2021, here are a few highlights:
(thread)
Under @GovAndyBeshear's leadership, we've experienced our best economic development year in KY history, shattering all previous records, including annual business investment and annual job growth — 17,000 new jobs this year alone!
We celebrated the largest single jobs investment in KY history when Ford and SK Innovation announced their new electric vehicle battery plants — 5,000 new jobs and a historic moment for the future of our commonwealth.
In addition to passing huge infrastructure investments, @RepJohnYarmuth led the way on COVID relief with the American Rescue Plan: stimulus checks, housing relief, an expanded Child Tax Credit that's lifting millions out of poverty, and more — a legacy we can all be proud of.
We also made progress in Frankfort, from voting rights to health care.
@GovAndyBeshear signed an election reform bill that writes into law some of the changes he helped deliver in 2020 that make it easier for eligible Kentuckians to vote.
And @GovAndyBeshear kept his promise to expand access to affordable health care relaunching @kynect_ky and signing a bill that caps the cost of insulin copays at $30 a month, giving hope to thousands of Kentuckians with diabetes.
He knows health care is a basic human right.
Kentucky Democrats always stand with public education, and 2021 was no exception. @LtGovColeman supported our public schools, educators, and students & families during an incredibly challenging year. As an educator, she understands every child deserves a safe, quality education.
In moments of crisis, we cared for our neighbors and led with courage and compassion.
COVID-19 has been relentless, but @GovAndyBeshear is encouraging Kentuckians to get their #ShotOfHope with calm, decisive and responsible leadership.
When tornadoes hit, the Governor secured immediate federal assistance and we looked out for each other with care and compassion through the Team WKY Relief Fund that's raised $30 million, @BritainyBeshear's toy drive collecting over 100,000 toys and many local volunteer efforts.
Through it all, we kept working hard for KY families.
With @GovAndyBeshear’s Better Kentucky Plan, we made investments in clean water, high-speed internet & school upgrades that will help us continue our economic momentum in every corner of the commonwealth for years to come.
Together, we've done big things this year. And there's so much left to do.
As @GovAndyBeshear says, all eyes are on Kentucky. And we're just getting started.
