Since actively participating in #fintwitter I have achieved the following:
1️⃣Paid up R40k credits cards
2️⃣Emergency Fund 3k
3️⃣Crypto portfolio 2.6k
4️⃣Easy Equities portfolio 2.1k

I share how I did it in the thread below 🧵💛
1️⃣Ego Check
As a masters cum laude graduate 🎓, I thought I deserved everything and could be everything to everyone.
I thought my job meant I was rich.

I realised I was not rich if I had to be there everyday all day to pay my bills.

So, mindset shift was a must.
2️⃣Reality check

Financial freedom meant I would not have to be at work everyday all day to cover my expenses.

Financial Freedom takes work and seeing people do the work based on their tweets. I realised I will not achieve it unless I work.

So, I start working.
3️⃣The work

- Budget honestly
-Aggressively cut expenses
-Put pressure on my debtors
-Aggressively Side Hustled
-Engaged with the FinTwit community consistently

So, the work was key 🔑
Budgeting Honestly meant
Doing it once a day in the beginning instead of once a month before pay day.

I spent money everyday so I needed to consult with my budget regularly to track my progress and make adjustments

It was my first time with credit cards, I thought I had money
Aggressively reducing my expenses meant
Reduce grocery budget and changed supermarkets

No more spa days, hair, nails, expensive perfumes, shoes and clothes and make up

No more random hiking trips, filling up once a week for R800 adds up.

Yes it was not easy, mindset shift 🔑
Downgraded my car from one with 9l/100km fuel consumption to 5.6l/100km.
That made a difference and I drive less cause it isnt as nice😅

My financial problems had become a cancer that was causing me stress and mental health issues.

I had to be aggressive to get through it.
Engaging with FinTwitter, I got courage to be vocal about my financial situation and also that I am not above any paying job or activity.

So, I was honest with my family and debtors.

Put my ego aside, hustled and made the lifestyle adjustments necessary
Side hustles I tried, not all where successful:
Avon, IFA, Tupperware, Braided peoples hair, designer water, uber, sold my cloths and other staff

I aggressively side hustled.
All the money paid for the debts.

Once debt was paid up, I invested what remains into crypto + shares
This was a long thread, thank you for getting to the end.

I hope it gave you hope that you can get out of your financial situation and start the journey towards financial freedom.

I will continue learning, engaging and sharing my experience.
