2022 FILM THREAD

Last year I watched a bunch of movies. This year I plan I keeping track!

RUSH HOUR - I saw this movie twice when it came out at the theater in 1998. As a fan of Hong Kong movies, I was glad to see the amazing Jackie Chan in a successful, Hollywood movie. I wanted a fun movie to watch this morning at 1:00 AM after ringing in the New Year. This was it!

STONE COLD - This movie was partially filmed in downtown Conway which is less than 10 miles from where I grew up in Toad Suck, Arkansas. They drove motorcycles in our state capital in Little Rock! The Boz is standing in the capital in this photo!

3. RIDE ALONG - looking for something fun to watch this afternoon! Giving this movie a shot! Thoughts?

4. LETHAL WEAPON 4 - I enjoyed this movie when I saw it in the theater in 1998. It was the first time I had ever seen Jet Li & I was very impressed by his screen presence. It was also interesting seeing Conan Lee, Chow Yun Fat’s partner in TIGER ON BEAT, as 1 of the “4 Fathers.”

5. GUNFIGHT AT THE O.K. CORRAL - There are many good movie versions of this classic western tale. This is a good one!

6. SNOWPIERCER - I saw an advertisement for the Snowpiercer TV series tonight. That made me want to revisit Bong Joon Ho’s futuristic sci-fi flick featuring Chris Evans (Captain America) & the amazing South Korean actor Song Kang-ho (Parasite).

7. PITCH BLACK - Vin Diesel, Cole Hauser & Radha Mitchell battle bloodthirsty creatures & each other on a strange planet! This was the first movie where I thought Vin Diesel was cool when I saw it on video back in the day. And Cole Hauser doesn’t look like Rip Wheeler at all! 😎

8. RIDE LONESOME - Bounty hunter Randolph Scott forms an uneasy alliance with outlaws Pernell Roberts & James Coburn to fight off Indians, while simultaneously delivering a wanted man for a hanging. This simple, powerful western is one of my favorites in the genre.

9. DRIVE - Ryan Gosling drives & kicks butt in slow motion in this artsy action movie. I liked it a lot!

10. THE KARATE KID - Growing up in the ‘80’s, I wanted to be Daniel LaRusso. Also, my first crush was on Elizabeth Shue. I’ve seen this movie so many times, but I still love the relationship between Mr. Miyagi & Daniel. To me this is a classic!

11. THE WATERBOY - I love this movie. Anytime I'm down, it makes me laugh and feel better.

12. THE LAST BOY SCOUT - This is another movie I saw in the theater back in the day. Sure it's over the top & unrealistic in some places, but Bruce is cool, the action is top-notch & it's hilarious to boot! Shane Black definitely knew how to write a fun screenplay!

13. GREATER - If you love college football or a good underdog story, you need to watch this inspiring movie. The fact that it’s true makes it all the more amazing.

14. BREAKOUT - What better way to celebrate Robert Duvall’s 91st birthday than to watch the movie he was in with Charles Bronson. Check out how this movie was being advertised on the one sheet poster back in 1975!

15. PIG - Pig is one of my favorite movies of 2021. I've watched it at least 3 times & I've enjoyed it each time. Granted, it may not be everyone's cup of tea, or truffle for that matter, but if you appreciate Nicolas Cage & a unique, surprising story, give this a shot!

16. BLIND FURY - Rutger Hauer is great in this modern remake of "Zatoichi Challenged" starring the incomparable Shintaro Katsu. In my opinion, this is one of Rutger's best roles & movies. The swordplay is great in this funny action movie. Just don't take it too seriously!

17. EXCESSIVE FORCE - This was Thomas Ian Griffith’s attempt to become a big time action star. I personally thought he was great! Not only did he star in this movie, he also wrote it! 😎

18. THE KARATE KID PART III - I wanted to watch this sequel prior to bing watching Cobra Kai Season IV! This is the first time I’ve watched it since seeing it in the theater in 1989!

19. FARGO - Has there ever been a more pathetic film character than the one played by William H. Macy in this movie? And Frances McDormand gives the Oscar winning performance of a lifetime. Oh, and people in wood chippers!! This movie by the Coen Brothers is a awesome!

20. DESPERADO - If you like Antonio Banderas & Salma Hayek you should enjoy Robert Rodriguez’s follow up to “El Mariachi.” It’s full of stylized action & dark comedy!

21. STAND BY ME - I can never watch this movie without thinking of the leech scene or the pie eating contest!

22. COBRA KAI SEASON 4 - I just love this series. For a kid of the 80’s, the way this expands on the original films is about as cool as it gets. And I really like the new characters that have brought an entire new audience into this world! I can’t wait for Season 5!

23. AMERICAN SNIPER - Clint Eastwood directs this film about the incredible life of Chris Kyle. Bradley Cooper is phenomenal in the lead role. Powerful.

24. THE HOWLING - Elliot’s mom (from E.T.) & werewolves! I’d never seen this before tonight. The special effects are crazy!

25. THE MAN FROM LARAMIE - Jimmy Stewart is one of the all time great actors because he excelled in any type of role. The Man from Laramie is one of the best movies in his career, as well as one of the best westerns of the 1950’s. Highly, highly recommended!

26. BLOOD ON THE MOON - I waited for years to be able to watch this western starring Robert Mitchum. Thanks to @WarnerArchive, I was able to purchase this movie on blu ray! It’s a classic western story that costars Robert Preston, Walter Brennan & Barbara Bel Geddes. 👍👍

27. ROBIN HOOD: PRINCE OF THIEVES - Long before he was John Dutton, Kevin Costner was taking from the rich & giving to the poor as Robin of Locksley. Throw in an amazing cast that includes Morgan Freeman & Alan Rickman & you’ve got a great movie on your hands!

28. SABRINA - I enjoyed this remake of the classic 1954 movie starring Humphrey Bogart & Audrey Hepburn. Harrison Ford & Julia Ormond handle their roles well & I’m a sucker for romance & a happy ending!

29. THE GREAT ESCAPE - McQueen, Bronson, Garner, Coburn & many other legends star in this classic World War II escape film! They just don’t make movies like this anymore!

30. NIGHT OF THE HUNTER - Robert Mitchum is amazingly evil in his most iconic role as a self professed “preacher” who’s actually a con man & a murderer. It’s a classic tale of love & hate! 😉

31. FRIDAY - I guess I’m really looking forward to the weekend so I decided to watch this popular comedy starring Ice Cube & Chris Tucker. It was an easygoing & funny way to spend an hour and a half. I enjoyed it!

32. SURVIVING THE GAME - Inspired by the awesome @sequelsonly, I decided to rewatch this mid-90’s action movie starring Ice-T & Rutger Hauer. It’s a B-movie all the way & I mean that as a big compliment!

33. ACE VENTURA: PET DETECTIVE - Jim Carrey became one of the most popular movie stars in the world thanks to this crazy comedy! I don’t know if I ever laughed as hard at the movie theater when I saw this in 1994 in Conway, Arkansas!

34. THEY CALL ME TRINITY - I loved this funny spoof of spaghetti westerns when I was a kid. Terence Hill & Bud Spencer made 18 movies together, and this is the most popular of all of them. It’s catchy theme song was used by Quentin Tarantino in “Django Unchained.” 🍿😎

35. THE NEGOTIATOR - Samuel Jackson & Kevin Spacey are great in this thriller from from 1998.

36. THE FUGITIVE - In August of ‘93, my college buddies & I watched this movie at the theater in Conway, AR. I loved it then & I love it now. In one of Hollywood’s greatest filmographies, in my opinion, this is Harrison Ford’s finest hour!

37. THE DEAD POOL - The 5th & final Dirty Harry film is not the best in the series, but it’s still a fun movie & a fine send off for one of the great characters in action movie history!

38. PURE COUNTRY - As an actor, George Strait is great country singer! But I have to admit I’ve always had a soft spot in my heart for this movie. It has a wonderful soundtrack & the happy, romantic ending still makes me feel good!

39. MISSING IN ACTION - Chuck Norris kicks butt & saves POW’s in this classic 80’s action movie from the Cannon Group!

40. OUTBREAK - This movie dealing with the government & military response to a pandemic is very relevant in our world today!

41. THE PACKAGE - Any movie starring Gene Hackman & Tommy Lee Jones is worth watching! This political thriller from director Andrew Davis proves my point.

42. LAST OF THE DOGMEN - I highly recommend this tale of a modern day bounty hunter, played by Tom Berenger, who accidentally discovers an isolated tribe of Cheyenne indians. I consider this a great movie!

43. HIGH ROAD TO CHINA - I watched this adventure film where alcoholic pilot Tom Selleck helps Bess Armstrong find her missing father for the first time. It’s not a great movie, but I found it a fun way to spend an hour and a half. It helps that I’m a big fan of Selleck.

44. EMERGENCY: SURVIVAL ON CHARTER 220 - My wife spent many years as a paramedic, with her choice of career partly inspired by her love of this show. We enjoyed watching this 2 part “episode” of the series from its 7th season in 1978.

45. EMERGENCY: THE STEEL INFERNO - Linda Gray guest stars in this 2 part episode of the series. It’s the first episode of the series I ever watched & I enjoyed it watching it with my wife.

46. HAWKINS: DEATH AND THE MAIDEN - Did y’all know that Jimmy Stewart starred in a series of TV movies where he played an expensive, folksy, Southern lawyer who never lost a case? It’s every bit as awesome as it sounds, especially with Strother Martin as his cousin / sidekick!

47. HAWKINS - MURDER IN MOVIELAND - The adventures of unbeatable West Virginia lawyer, Billy Jim Hawkins, continue in this TV movie where he goes to Hollywood & solves another murder case. Just another day in the life of the character who had to inspire Matlock.

48. SMOKEY AND THE BANDIT - Burt Reynolds was on his way to becoming the most popular movie star in America when he made this fun action comedy with Sally Field, Jerry Reed & Jackie Gleason.

49. DEATH HUNT - We got snowed in this weekend in central Arkansas so I wanted to watch a movie that feature a lot of snow. And what better to watch than a movie that co-stars my movie hero Charles Bronson & the legendary Lee Marvin!

50. THE TOWERING INFERNO - For the first time in my life I watched this classic disaster movie with stars Steve McQueen & Paul Newman. Clocking in at just under 2 hours & 45 minutes, it’s quite a commitment of time, but I enjoyed it & I’m glad I finally watched it.

51. THE GETAWAY - Continuing with the McQueen theme, we watched this classic crime film from 1972. Directed by Peckinpah, written by Walter Hill & costarring the likes of Ben Johnson & Al Lettieri, this movie is about as manly as it gets!

52. TITANIC - Our weekend movie marathon ended with this modern day classic featuring the love story of Jack & Rose set against the backdrop of the sinking of the Titanic. And my wife can quote every single line of the entire movie. And she did again tonight! 😁😎🍿

53. THE ITALIAN CONNECTION - I’ve been in the mood for some Eurocrime so I decided to watch this excellent Italian crime film starring Henry Silva & Woody Strode & directed by Fernando Di Leo. The 70’s were a great time for Italian exploitation movies!

54. HELL OR HIGH WATER - I highly recommend this outstanding film about 2 brothers who rob banks & the wily Texas Ranger who’s after them. Chris Pine, Ben Foster & Jeff Bridges are great. It was written by Taylor Sheridan a few years before he unleashed Yellowstone on the world!

55. DEATH RIDES A HORSE - If you’re interested in spaghetti westerns, then you’ll like this tale of revenge starring Lee Van Cleef & John Phillip Law. This movie is a favorite of director Quentin Tarantino.

56. CROCODILE DUNDEE - My best friend & I saw this at the theater in 1986 when we were in Jr. High. His mom dropped us off & went shopping while we watched the movie. Those were some good old days!

57. SANJURO - Toshiro Mifune was one of the greatest actors this world has ever known, especially when he worked with legendary director Akira Kurosawa. Sanjuro may not be their deepest collaboration, but it is surely one of their most enjoyable. I love this movie!

58. THE HATEFUL EIGHT - My son Hank & I watched the roadshow version of this Tarantino film in Arlington, Texas back in December of 2015. It’s talky, but I’m a big fan. Walton Goggins & Samuel Jackson are awesome!

59. HOT FUZZ - I’ve always loved this spoof of action movies, with some horror thrown in! It’s another movie I saw at the theater during its original run in 2007. I was worn out & needed a fun movie last night so I went with this!

60. THE CANNONBALL RUN - Burt Reynolds, Roger Moore, Farrah Fawcett, Dean Martin, Jackie Chan, Adrienne Barbeau, etc, etc!! If you enjoy a big cast of stars & lots of crashing cars, this is the movie for you. I’ll watch anything with Burt so I enjoyed it of course!

61. SLEEPING WITH THE ENEMY - I saw this at the movies back when Julia Roberts was becoming the biggest movie star on the planet. Patrick Bergin was as slimy as they come. He should have just left her alone!

62. SINGLE WHITE FEMALE - Jennifer Jason Leigh plays Bridget Fonda in this freaky thriller from the early 90s. And never smart off to a woman holding stiletto heels! 👠

62. JURASSIC WORLD - My wife & took our kids to Universal Studios in Orlando last summer. Our favorite ride was the Velocicoaster based on this movie. It was awesome!

64. SOMETHING WILD - I used #62 twice so I’m jumping to 64 for this excellent film starring Jeff Daniels, Melanie Griffith & a meaner than mean Ray Liotta.

65. SPLIT SECOND - If the idea of watching Rutger Hauer battle a demon alien sounds fun to you, you will LOVE this movie. It’s turned into one of my favorites of his. He chews the scenery & is as cool as he’s ever been! RIP, Rutger. 😎

66. ACE VENTURA: WHEN NATURE CALLS - It’s been a long day and I wanted to watch something stupid funny. This definitely qualifies! 🤣

67. THE HOSPITAL - Watching this movie makes you want to avoid going to the hospital at all costs! George C. Scott is awesome of course.

68. STAR TREK - I saw this reboot of the Star Trek series back when it premiered at theaters in 2009 & really enjoyed it. It was fun revisiting it again. In the right roles, Chris Pine has proven to be a very capable actor!

69. SLING BLADE - Billy Bob Thornton creates a character for the ages in this excellent movie filmed almost entirely within 10 miles from my house in Central Arkansas. Awesome!

70. ENTER THE NINJA - If you like Django (the 1966 original), Die Hard 2, or ninjas, this just could be the movie for you!

71. HAWKINS: DIE DARLING DIE - Jimmy Stewart absolutely shines as West Virginia lawyer Billy Jim Hawkins. In this TV movie, he squares off against a young, idealistic prosecutor, played by none other than Sam Elliot, in a case that revolves around a mercy killing, or does it?

72. OZARK, SEASON 4, PART 1 - My wife & got caught up on the first 7 episodes of the final season of this amazing Netflix series. I can’t wait until they release the 2nd half sometime later in the year! If you’re not watching, you’re missing out! Thoughts?

73. HAWKINS: A LIFE FOR A LIFE - I can’t adequately describe just how much I’m enjoying this series of TV movies featuring Jimmy Stewart as folksy West Virginia lawyer Billy Jim Hawkins. Tyne Daly guest stars in this episode.

74. HAWKINS: BLOOD FEUD - Billy Jim Hawkins gets involved in a case revolving around a long standing family feud in the hills of West Virginia. James Best & Strother Martin help our legal hero out in this episode!

75. HITCH-HIKE - Before C. Thomas Howell picked up the Hitcher, Franco Nero was involved in this hitch-hike. This nihilistic film is not for the faint of heart!

76. THE BIG GUNDOWN - Lee Van Cleef & Tomas Milian dominate the screen in this classic spaghetti western from director Sergio Sollima. And of course the great Ennio Morricone does the music. If you’re not singing, “Never..no Never” as this movie ends, something is wrong with you!

77. BILLY JACK - Tom Laughlin plays the iconic character who hates violence but seems to constantly find himself in the middle of it. This surprise box office smash is a strange film, but it certainly strikes a nerve.

78. BLOODY MAMA - This B movie from director Roger Corman was filmed in the hills of Arkansas & featured a cast that included Shelley Winters in the title role, a young DeNiro as one of her sons, & Bruce Dern.

79. GREASE - I love this movie, with Greased Lightnin’, Stranded at the Drive In & There are Worse Things I Could do, as my personal favorite songs! John Travolta, Olivia Newton-John & Stockard Channing are standouts!

80. HAWKINS: MURDER IN THE SLAVE TRADE - Billy Jim Hawkins takes on the case of a murdered football team owner. Jimmy Stewart continues to own the screen as a folksy West Virginia lawyer who does what it takes to win! He’s especially strong in this episode.

81. DJANGO - Franco Nero is the original Django, the gunslinger who drags a coffin around behind him. I love the title song!

82: MISSION: IMPOSSIBLE - Tom Cruise & director Brian DePalma kicked off this excellent series of films that only gets better with age!

83. BLUE THUNDER - The story of good guy Roy Scheider, bad guy Malcolm McDowell & one awesome helicopter!

84. STAGECOACH - John Wayne received one of the great character introductions in the history of film in John Ford’s 1939 classic. It would get him out of B westerns & eventually turn him into one of the great movie stars of all time!

85. HAWKINS: MURDER ON THE 13TH FLOOR - Billy Jim Hawkins gets personal as he defends the son of a woman he loves against a murder charge. Teresa Wright, from Hitchcock’s Shadow of a Doubt, guest stars & Strother Martin is on hand again as his cousin / sidekick.

86. AIRPORT - Burt Lancaster, Dean Martin, George Kennedy, Van Heflin, Jean Seberg & Jacqueline Bisset headline the cast of this film set in a busy Airport on a snowy night. There’s lots of drama in the lives of these characters & one even wants to solve his problems with a bomb!

87. THE MAGNIFICENT SEVEN - An American reworking of “The Seven Samurai,” this outstanding western has one of the great casts of all time - Brynner, McQueen, Bronson, Coburn! And that musical score by Elmer Bernstein…CLASSIC! It’s one of my favorite movies & I revisit it often!

88. I CAN ONLY IMAGINE - I cry every time I watch this film about the life of the man who wrote the amazing contemporary Christian song of the same name. Absolutely love it!

89. BLACK RAIN - I’ve always loved this action packed & violent cop film set in the Japanese underworld. Michael Douglas chews the scenery & Andy Garcia is so likable. It was so nice to see Ken Takakura, the stalwart of the Japanese yakuza film of the 70s, in a prominent role.

90. EIGHT BELOW - Sierra & I are sitting around & waiting for some icy weather to come through central Arkansas tonight so we decided to watch this story about some amazing sled dogs & their fight for survival all alone in Antarctica! It definitely tugs at the heart!

91. THE ADVENTURES OF MILO & OTIS - If you’ve ever wanted to watch an orange tabby & a pug get in all kinds of adventures, then Milo & Otis are just the animals you’ve been looking for. This is a cute & amazingly filmed story! Dudley Moore narrates the English language version.

92. GROUNDHOG DAY - I’m a big fan of this Bill Murray comedy about a jerky weatherman who gets stuck living out the same day in Punxsutawney, Pennsylvania…day after day after day! It’s hilarious at times, heartwarming at times & even sad at times. Love it!

93. DRUM BEAT - Charles Bronson’s first great role was as Captain Jack in this 1954 western starring Alan Ladd. Bronson dominated every scene he was in & gave a glimpse of the charisma that would lead to his superstardom a couple of decades later.

94. RUN OF THE ARROW - Rod Steiger stars as confederate who’d rather live as a Native American as admit defeat in the civil war. Charles Bronson had an early role as Indian chief Blue Buffalo. He’s as physically fit as any indian character to ever grace the silver screen!

95. A THUNDER OF DRUMS - I’m interested in this cavalry movie starring Richard Boone & George Hamilton due to the presence of Charles Bronson in a supporting role. He’s not very likable here & his losing a fight to Hamilton is about as realistic as it sounds!

96. BORDERLINE - Charles Bronson plays dedicated border cop & tracker Jeb Maynard. Things aren’t much different than they are now…dedicated men & women try to protect our borders while bureaucrats keep them from doing so. Ed Harris debuts as a particularly bad trafficker!

97. GUNS OF DIABLO - If you’ve ever wanted to see Bronson work with a kid version of Kurt Russell, this is the western for you! These episodes of the TV series “The Travels of Jamie McPheeters” were edited as a stand-alone feature & I have to admit, it makes a pretty good movie!

98. THE DEEP - I’ve seen this movie referenced on Twitter today so we decided to watch it. I hadn’t seen it since I was a teenager & it was like watching a new movie. Based on a novel by Peter Benchley, Nick Nolte, Jacqueline Bisset & Robert Shaw search for sunken treasure!

99. ERASER - We decided to revisit this big 90’s action movie starring Schwarzenegger, Vanessa Williams & James Caan. This type of movie was on its way out of style when this was made, but watching it definitely made me feel nostalgic.

100. HIGH NOON - Gary Cooper won his 2nd Oscar for playing Marshall Will Kane, the lawman who is abandoned by his townsfolk to face off against the Miller gang all alone. Grace Kelly is the woman he loves. It’s a classic film that has stood the test of time!

101. JUBAL - Glenn Ford, Ernest Borgnine & Rod Steiger headline this western drama set against the backdrop of the Grand Teton mountains. Charles Bronson has an important supporting role as a new ranch hand & Ford’s friend. This is serious stuff & it’s a really good movie.

102. SHOWDOWN AT BOOT HILL - Charles Bronson had one of his first starring roles in this western from 1958. He plays a bounty hunter who finds himself going up against a town when he kills a well liked outlaw. Bronson is great in a movie that has turned into a personal favorite!

103. RED SUN - Legendary American tough guy Charles Bronson enters a forced partnership with legendary Japanese samurai Toshiro Mifune to hunt down a bad guy, played by legendary Frenchman Alain Delon, who’s stolen from them both. It’s a fun East meets Western that I watch often!

104. BREAKHEART PASS - Bronson leads an all star cast in this western mystery set onboard a train & based on a novel by Alistair MacLean. Bronson’s fight with Hall of Fame boxer Archie Moore on top of the moving train is the action highlight!

105. GOD OF GAMBLERS - You haven’t experienced cinema if you don’t know the Hong Kong cinema of the 80’s & early 90’s. One of the biggest movie stars during that time was Chow Yun-Fat & one of his best movies was God of Gamblers! This movie kicked off the “gambling” film craze.

106. BLIND FURY - In one of Rutger Hauer’s finest moments, he stars as a blind swordsman who helps a kid find his father, who also happens to be one of Rutger’s old war buddies. This movie is the definition of awesome!

107. ESCAPE PLAN - Sylvester Stallone is the world's best at escaping from maximum security prisons, until he meets bad guy Jim Caviezel & his prison. Luckily, Arnold Schwarzenegger is there to help Stallone out. This reunion of 80's & 90's action star is fun "escapism."

108. RETURN OF THE SEVEN - Yul Brynner is back leading a group of 7 that includes Robert Fuller, Warren Oates & Claude Akins. It has that same great music score, but everything else isn’t as good this time around.

109. JAWS - The Spielberg classic that brought about the age of the blockbuster! Roy Scheider, Richard Dreyfus & Robert Shaw make one heck of a team of shark hunters as they set out to find a Great White & soon realize they’re going to need a bigger boat.

110. FIRST BLOOD - It’s hard to believe there was a time when people first learned of John Rambo. I remember watching this movie for the first time on Fox 16 out of Little Rock when I was a kid. I loved it then and I love it now!

111. THE LAST WAGON - Richard Widmark starts as a white man raised by Comanches who gets pressed into protecting a wagon train under attack from vengeful Apaches. You forget how good Widmark was until you revisit the great movies he made in the 40’s & 50’s!

112. MAN WITHOUT A STAR - Kirk Douglas spends most of this movie with a big smile on his face, but he gets really serious when barbed wire is put up around the ranch he’s working. He hates wire & has the scars to prove it. He eventually squares off against bad guy Richard Boone.

113. THE GOODBYE GIRL - Richard Dreyfuss won an Oscar for this romantic comedy where he plays an actor sharing an apartment with dancer Marsha Mason & her daughter. They start off at each other’s throats & eventually soften as they do life together. My wife LOVES this movie!

114. STAKEOUT - Richard Dreyfuss & Emilio Estevez are hilarious as cops staking out Madeleine Stowe, the ex-girlfriend of an escaped criminal. I’ve always loved this buddy cop movie!

115. JUDGMENT NIGHT - Emilio Estevez, Cuba Gooding, Jr., Stephen Dorff & Jeremy Piven just wanted to watch a boxing match, but end up seeing a brutal murder instead. They end up spending the night running for their lives. It’s a suspenseful action movie!

116. TREMORS - Kevin Bacon, Fred Ward, Michael Gross & Reba McEntire take on some big ass worms! I hadn’t watched this movie in years. We went to see Reba in concert the other night so my wife suggested we watch this. It’s a fun movie!

117. NIGHT MOVES - Gene Hackman is perfect as a private investigator who is hired to find runaway Melanie Griffith. He, of course, gets into a lot more than he bargained for. Look for a standout performance by Jennifer Warren & a young James Woods! This is a really good movie.

118. CONSENTING ADULTS - Kevin Kline is a composer of jingles who’s happily married until overbearing Kevin Spacey & his beautiful wife move in next door. Next thing you know he’s in jail for murder. This type of overheated, pulpy thriller was all the rage in the early 90’s.

119. WITNESS - Harrison Ford hides out in the Amish country in Pennsylvania in order to protect a boy who witnessed a murder. He also happens to fall in love with the boy’s mother. Danny Glover is one mean, corrupt cop in this excellent thriller!

120. THE GOOD, THE BAD, and THE UGLY - One of the great spaghetti westerns of all time. There really isn’t thing else to be said about this Eastwood/Leone classic!

121. DUEL - We watched this Steven Spielberg TV Movie classic with Dennis Weaver being terrorized by a big truck for the first time tonight. Movies like this are the scariest to me because there really are some crazy A-holes out on the road.

122. TOP SECRET - Val Kilmer does comedy in this crazy movie about an American pop star who gets caught up in a revolution. It’s from the same people who brought you Airplane & The Naked Gun which means I loved it! 🤣

123. C.C. & COMPANY - I watched this movie for Joe & Ann but the highlight of the movie is a performance by Wayne Cochran & the CC Riders. Trust me. YouTube it. It’s awesome!

124. STRIKING DISTANCE - Bruce Willis stars as a river patrol cop in Pittsburgh trying to stop a serial killer who’s killing women & dumping bodies in the rivers. This is one of my wife’s favorite movies. It really had a good cast!

125. BLADE RUNNER - Rutger Hauer is one of my all time favorite actors & Roy Batty, the replicant who just wants more life, is probably his best role. And he just happens to save Harrison Ford in the process!

126. BLADE RUNNER 2049 - Ryan Gosling carries on the Blade Runner tradition, with a little help from Harrison Ford.

127. THE PROUD ONES - One of the great underrated actors of all time, Robert Ryan, stars as a sheriff taking on the bad guys who move into his town, while also dealing with a youngster who blames him for his father’s death. Walter Brennan has a supporting role. It’s a good one!

128. THE MECHANIC - Thanks to Nick & Ray with @hardtimesonfilm I decided to spin this classic Bronson hitman movie today. It has the best ending of any Bronson film!

130. MECHANIC: RESURRECTION - And now, thanks to the recommendation of the awesome @sequelsonly, I’m watching this follow up to the remake of the Bronson classic! ANY movie with Michelle Yeoh is worth watching as far as I’m concerned!

131. BUCHANAN RIDES ALONE - Actor Randolph Scott and director Budd Boetticher were responsible for some of the best westerns of the late 50’s. This is another gem!

132. THE TALL T - The Budd Boetticher-Randolph Scott marathon continues with another classic western. Scott is at his square jawed best & nobody played a villain any better than Richard Boone. I also love any movie that features outstanding character actor Arthur Hunnicutt!

133. COMANCHE STATION - I just can’t get enough of the Randolph Scott-Budd Boetticher westerns today. Randolph Scott would only make one more movie after this solid western. He would die in 1987 as one of the richest men in Hollywood.

134. THE THING - Since the Super Bowl held no interest for me, I’ve enjoyed watching movies all afternoon. I’m finishing the night off with this classic John Carpenter / Kurt Russell ickfest!

135. ESCAPE FROM NEW YORK - Kurt Russell is Snake Plissken, a criminal who just happens to be the President’s best hope of escaping New York, a maximum security prison in the year 1997. It’s an iconic role that Kurt seems to really enjoy playing.

136. ROBOCOP - It has been a couple of decades since I watched Paul Verhoeven’s Robocop. I enjoyed watching it again!

137. THE EQUALIZER - Let’s just be honest, Denzel is a major badass in this movie. If you enjoy an action-packed, revenge movie, this is the movie for you!

138. STRANGE DAYS - “Have you ever jacked in? Have you ever wire tripped? No? A virgin brain.” I saw this sci fi film at the movies back in 1995. It was written by none other than James Cameron himself. It’s pretty crazy, but I’d be lying if I said I didn’t like it! 😁😎

139. WATCH OUT, WE’RE MAD - I absolutely love the look on Terence Hill’s face when he’s jumping into that pit of balloons! This is 1 of 18 films that Hill & Bud Spencer made together! Check it out if you’re in a silly mood! #FridayNightFlix

140. MEN AT WORK - Real life brothers Emilio Estevez & Charlie Sheen play a couple of garbage men who find a dead body in a trash can & end up in all sorts of hot water. This movie has its good moments. It was directed by Estevez! #FridayHeretics

141. CHATO’S LAND - Bronson was in his early 50’s when he played the role of half-breed Apache Pardon Chato in this Michael Winner western from 1972. Chato kills a racist sheriff who’s about to shoot him the back & so a posse gets after him. It’s no match!

142. KINJITE: FORBIDDEN SUBJECTS - Bronson’s last film for Cannon was one of his most interesting 80’s movies as well as one of his better performances. He plays a cop out to find an abducted young Japanese girl. The problem is he’s somewhat insensitive to the Asian community.

143. THE ROCK - Nicolas Cage was becoming one of the biggest movie stars on the planet when he made this awesome action film with Sean Connery & Ed Harris. I’ll never forget how much I enjoyed it watching it at the movie theater in 1996!

144. TEXAS CHAINSAW MASSACRE - If you think you’ll like a new Texas Chainsaw Massacre movie, you probably will. If you don’t, you probably won’t.

145. 9 TO 5 - Jane Fonda, Lily Tomlin & Dolly Parton have an absolutely terrible boss in Dabney Coleman. They figure out a way to deal with him!

146. DEATH WISH II - Bronson reprises his role as vigilante Paul Kersey. This movie is really hard to watch at times, but you can’t help but pull for Kersey when he takes to the streets to get even with the punks who killed his family. This movie is 40 years old this week!

147. THE CONJURING - a truly scary movie, this 2013 horror thriller is based on “true events” in the lives of Ed & Lorraine Warren. In this one, the Warrens help a family who have moved into a remote farmhouse where strange events begin occurring. Scary!

148. THE AMITYVILLE HORROR - James Brolin & Margot Kidder move into a house where brutal murders occurred a few years earlier. I watched this movie for the first time today.

149. THE CHANGELING - In this paranormal thriller, George C. Scott moves into a big scary looking house. Of course things start getting weird from there & we find ourselves caught up in a mystery beyond the grave!

150. LOOPER - Bruce Willis & Joseph Gordon Levitt play different aged versions of the same person in this excellent time traveling hitman saga. Highly recommended!

151. 16 BLOCKS - Bruce Willis plays an alcoholic cop who protects witness Mos Def from a bunch a bad cops. This was director Richard Donner’s last movie.

152. INSIDE MAN - Denzel Washington, Clive Owen & Jodie Foster star in this movie about a group of bank robbers and the police hostage negotiator on the case. It’s a good movie!

153. MURPHY’S LAW - Bronson plays a cop who’s framed for murder, arrested & handcuffed to a foul mouthed car thief. He escapes to find the psycho who set him up. This is one of my personal favorite Bronson movies & features some of the most colorful language ever put on film!

154. LOVE AND BULLETS - After listening to Nick & Ray with @hardtimesonfilm discussing this movie, I decided to give it a viewing today. Bronson loved his wife Jill Ireland so much & you can feel that come through the screen. It’s not his best, but I still like it!

155. LADYHAWKE - Rutger Hauer & Michelle Pfeiffer are perfect as cursed lovers & Matthew Broderick is very funny in this Richard Donner medieval romance. Recommended!

156. THE OTHER GUYS - I’ve always enjoyed this action comedy with Will Ferrell & Mark Wahlberg. It’s a movie I watch when I need a pick me up!

157. THE HANGOVER - Another favorite when I need to laugh.

158. DJANGO UNCHAINED - I’m a big fan of Tarantino’s movies, but especially the ones with Christoph Waltz! He teams up with Jamie Fox against a deliciously evil Leonardo DiCaprio. Samuel Jackson is amazingly evil as well.

159. IN THE LINE OF FIRE - Clint Eastwood was just coming off his amazing success with “Unforgiven” when he starred as a secret service agent trying to protect the president from Oscar nominated John Malkovich. I love this movie!

160. THE MAGNIFICENT SEVEN - I love Denzel Washington & Chris Pratt & this movie does have its moments. It just isn’t near as good as the original.

161. ONCE UPON A TIME IN THE WEST - Charles Bronson, Henry Fonda, Jason Robards & Claudia Cardinale star in one of the greatest movies ever made. This is cinema at its best! I would love to see this one on the big screen where it belongs!

162. OPPOSING FORCE - Tom Skerritt & Lisa Eichorn are part of a group of soldiers who are undergoing advanced military training. The problem is that the commander of the program has gone nuts & his itinerary now includes rape & murder. This is an interesting B movie. Pretty good.

163. BLACK MOON RISING - Tommy Lee Jones plays a thief who gets involved with another thief played by Linda Hamilton as well as Richard Jaeckel, who’s trying to get back his stolen Supercar, the Black Moon! Robert Vaughn is a bad guy. Not a great movie but a good cast for sure!

164. CROUCHING TIGER, HIDDEN DRAGON - My favorite living actor, Chow Yun-Fat, starred in this Oscar winner from Ang Lee. One of my great movie experiences was catching this at the theater when it finally came to Arkansas in 2001. Michelle Yeoh & Zhang Ziyi are mesmerizing!

165. THE CORRUPTOR - My favorite English language film with Chow Yun-Fat. Here he’s a highly decorated New York cop who’s forced to take on a young partner played by Mark Wahlberg. This is the closest an American action film got to showing us what makes CYF such a special actor!

166. POLICE STORY - Let’s be honest, we watch Jackie Chan to see him perform amazing stunts. He doesn’t disappoint in this police story.

167. WALK THE LINE - I love this biopic on Johnny Cash. Reese Witherspoon rightly won an Oscar for her performance & they both did a great job singing!

168. BEVERLY HILLS COP - Was there anything more popular than Eddie Murphy in the 80’s? These movies bring back all kinds of nostalgia for me since I first watched them as a junior high teenager!

169. BEVERLY HILLS COP II - Axel Foley is back in the biggest box office hit of 1987. It’s a nice follow up to the original & I love the line when he’s visiting a gun club where he says that “Charles Bronson is a close friend of the family.” 😎

170. POLICE STORY III: SUPERCOP - Jackie Chan & Michelle Yeoh team up in this fun action comedy to stop a drug kingpin. Once again, this excellent movie feature amazing stunts & action!

171. CITY ON FIRE - Chow Yun Fat would win his 2nd Hong Kong film award for his portrayal of a conflicted undercover cop. This movie would cement Ringo Lam’s status as one of the great HK film directors & have a major influence on Tarantino’s “Reservoir Dogs!” Love it!!

172. OLYMPUS HAS FALLEN - Gerard Butler makes for a great action hero & “Olympus Has Fallen” makes for a great throwback to the action films of the late 80’s & 90’s. I’m a big fan & I preferred it over the similarly themed “White House Down” from the same year.

173. AIRPLANE - This classic spoof film has made me laugh for close to 40 years. If you can watch this movie without laughing, we just don’t share the same sense of humor.

174. MAJOR LEAGUE - Berenger, Sheen, Snipes, Russo…what a great 90’s cast for this comedy about a crappy Cleveland Indians baseball team who turn it around. Love this movie!

175. SKI PATROL - Watched this 1990 ski comedy with the #FridayNightFlix crew. It’s your basic “ski patrol saves ski lodge from greedy developers while dancing & skiing” movie. We always have a ball live tweeting these movies together!

176. HARLEY DAVIDSON & THE MARLBORO MAN - I’ve always enjoyed this fun, high concept action movie with Mickey Rourke & Don Johnson. It was definitely a joy to watch it with the late night #FridayHeretics crowd!

177. BEFORE THE DEVIL KNOWS YOU’RE DEAD - A movie about desperate people & the impossible situations they put themselves in. This movie is full of great performances buts it’s a downer of a movie. Watch it for the craft, but believe me, you’ll need a pick me up afterwards!

178. DEAD & BURIED - If you want to watch a scary movie from 1981 with a nice twist ending & a needle through an eyeball, this is your movie!

179. CROSSFIRE TRAIL - Any western starring Tom Selleck & directed by the same guy who directed “Quigley Down Under” is a movie I want to watch. This particular movie is based on a book by Louis L’Amour. It’s an excellent western & I thoroughly enjoyed it.

180. CONAGHER - Sam Elliot & his real life wife Katharine Ross star in this western based on the Louis L’Amour novel. This is an excellent movie with an outstanding supporting cast that includes Barry Corbin, Ken Curtis, Paul Koslo & Gavan O’Herlihy. Highly recommended!

181. HANG ‘EM HIGH - Clint Eastwood gets even with those who took it upon themselves to hang him for rustling cattle. The only problem is that he was innocent. It’s a good movie. Clint’s a badass as usual!

182. THE USUAL SUSPECTS - Nothing is quite what it seems in this movie about 5 guys being controlled by a criminal mastermind. If you’ve seen this movie, the name “Keyser Sose” will always be awesome to you!

183. SLEEPLESS IN SEATTLE - This classic Tom Hanks / Meg Ryan romantic comedy always makes me feel good. Love it!

184. OVERBOARD - Kurt Russell & Goldie Hawn appear to be having a ball in this fun, romantic comedy. This is one of those movies that I’ve always loved. The nostalgia is strong with this one!

185. JUSTIFIED: SEASON 1 - Timothy Olyphant & Walton Goggins are awesome as U.S. Marshal Raylan Givens & Boyd Crowder. Sierra & I wanted to revisit this series because Raylan Givens is coming back soon in a limited series run on FX! We’re pumped!

186. CLIFFHANGER - Stallone made some good action movies during the 80’s & 90’s. This is one of the really good ones!

187. SILVERADO - This fun western has an amazing cast, Scott Glenn, Kevin Kline, Kevin Costner, Danny Glover, Brian Dennehy, Jeff Goodblum…just for starters! Highly recommended if you like classic western stories!

188. THE LONGEST YARD - I’m a big Burt Reynolds fan & I love the 1974 film. This remake doesn’t hold a candle to the original, but I still find it a fun movie.

189. TRUE GRIT - Jeff Bridges makes a great Rooster Cogburn & Hailee Steinfeld makes an awesome Mattie Ross in this 2nd film version of Charles Portis’ “True Grit.” I’m not saying Bridges is as good as John Wayne, but that doesn’t change the fact that he was great in this movie!

190. THE GREEN MILE - Tom Hanks headlines this superior movie about a giant man on death row, played by the late Michael Clarke Duncan, who has supernatural gifts. This is such an excellent & moving film. Director Frank Darabont made two of the great movies of the 90’s!

191. EDDIE MURPHY: RAW - This movie could not be made today because the PC police would be trying to cancel it. Some of it is pretty rough, but it also had some hilarious bits. The story about his mama making him a burger, when he wanted McDonalds, hit really close to home! 🤣

192. FROM NOON TILL THREE - One of the most atypical of Bronson films was made at the height of his popularity. It was not a box office success, but it is a very good movie. It’s one of his personal favorites because of the experience he had making it with his wife, Jill Ireland.

193. 10 TO MIDNIGHT - Buying gas on my way to work this morning put me in a bad mood. Watching Charles Bronson take out a slasher is helping my frame of mind!

194. THE SONS OF KATIE ELDER - John Wayne & Dean Martin headline this great western about four brothers who gather together after their mom dies. They stay on to take on the bad guys who stole the family ranch. I love it!

195. SCREAM - GhostFace is back in this update of the Scream franchise. David Arquette, Neve Campbell & Courtney Cox are also back, along with a cast of youngsters who serve as fresh meat for this “requel.” If you’re a fan of the original series you’ll like this. I enjoyed it!

196. LICORICE PIZZA - Cooper Hoffman (Phillip’s son) & Alaina Haim (Grammy nominee) star in this odd, Oscar-nominated love story set in the 70’s. I did love it when they ran to each other at the end for a big hug in front of a marquee showing “Charles Bronson in the Mechanic.”

197. RUSH HOUR 3 - I wanted to watch a sequel so we chose this fun movie. 3 may not be as good as 1 or 2, but I enjoyed this series of action comedies starring Jackie Chan & Chris Tucker. Sierra & I had a good time with it tonight!

198. THE COMANCHEROS - This is a really good John Wayne movie as he & gambler Stuart Whitman face off against the murderous Comancheros! A scalped Lee Marvin is a sight to behold & it was awesome spotting the clear references that “Once Upon a Time in the West” made to this film!

199. GOD’S NOT DEAD: WE THE PEOPLE - Pastor Dave helps a group of parents whose homeschool is being shut down by the government. They end up going to Washington to testify in front of a Senate committee in order to preserve their freedom to choose their children’s education.

200. THE SHAWSHANK REDEMPTION - One of the all time great movies stars Tim Robbins & Morgan Freeman as two inmates who become friends over the course of 20 years as they serve sentences for murder. This has one of the best endings you’ll ever see in a film.

201. A RIVER RUNS THROUGH IT - If you don’t want to go fly fishing in Montana after watching this movie, something is WRONG with you. Brad Pitt was on the verge on superstardom when he starred in this beautiful film directed by Robert Redford.

202. THE SILENCE OF THE LAMBS - Anthony Hopkins had the role of a lifetime as incarcerated serial killer Hannibal Lector. He help FBI cadet Jodie Foster catch another serial killer. Both actors deserved their academy awards for their performances in this excellent movie!

203. JUSTIFIED: SEASON 2 - The continuing saga of Raylan Givens & Boyd Crowder keeps getting better. This season introduces the badass mountain mama Mags Bennett & her sons. These are some bad people & Raylan & Boyd have to work together to take them down.

204. DEAD POETS SOCIETY - I sure miss Robin Williams. He was such a great actor & the role of John Keating was perfect for him. I would have loved him as a teacher. The last scene of the movie is priceless.

205. SAVING PRIVATE RYAN - This is a powerful, violent & realistic war movie. It can be really hard to watch at times & it really makes you think about the value of one life compared to others. Tom Hanks has never been better.

206. DANCES WITH WOLVES - Kevin Costner directed & starred in this outstanding western that won 7 Oscars back in 1990. I loved it then & I still love it now!

207. CADDYSHACK - This comedy classic still holds up today with the likes of Bill Murray, Rodney Dangerfield, Chevy Chase & Ted Knight. Love it!

208. TWO MULES FOR SISTER SARA - Clint Eastwood & Shirley MacLaine make a fine pair onscreen in this western from 1970. It’s an enjoyable movie!

209. SHANGHAI NOON - I absolutely love this Jackie Chan / Owen Wilson western comedy! Chan was on a roll when he completed this movie fresh off the big success of Rush Hour. Look for Walton Goggins in an early, hilarious role as one of the members of Wilson’s gang!

210. PATRIOT GAMES - Harrison Ford is perfect as Jack Ryan. In this movie, he incurs the wrath of the IRA when he stops a political assassination attempt. They come after his family. Sean Bean is great as the unhinged terrorist obsessed with Ryan for killing his brother!

211. THE SHOOTIST - John Wayne’s final film is bittersweet as he stars as a legendary gunfighter dying of cancer. The cast includes Jimmy Stewart, Lauren Bacall, Ron Howard & Richard Boone. It’s a fine farewell to an all time cinema legend.

212. THE FIRM - Tom Cruise plays a hotshot young attorney who takes a job with a law firm in Memphis in this John Grisham thriller. I love movies set in the south & this takes full advantage of its location as it has scenes set at Beale Street, Mud Island & the Peabody Hotel!

213. REGARDING HENRY - One of the great feel-good movies. A ruthless & selfish attorney, played by Harrison Ford, gets shot in a random act of violence in his local neighborhood. As he heals, he becomes the loving husband & dad his family always wanted. I LOVE this movie!

214. THE ACCUSED - Jodie Foster won her first Oscar for her performance as a rape victim in this disturbing movie. Kelly McGillis plays the attorney determined to help bring Justice to the attackers & the onlookers.

215. SENSE AND SENSIBILITY - I love a good Jane Austen movie. This is one of my faves. They always have good endings, even though there are always lots of misunderstandings to be settled!

216. PRIDE & PREJUDICE - The classic British mini-series that made Colin Firth a star! He & Jennifer Ehle are perfect as Mr. Darcy & Miss Elizabeth Bennett who start out at each other’s throats & end up in love! I LOVE this mini-series! PSA - There are NO zombies in this version!

217. EL DORADO - This is practically the same movie as “Rio Bravo,” but ANY movie with John Wayne, Robert Mitchum, James Caan & Arthur Hunnicutt is well worth watching. Very enjoyable!

218. TOMBSTONE - This all-star western from 1993 may be Val Kilmer’s finest hour. His performance as Doc Holliday is truly a joy to watch. And of course you have Kurt Russell, Sam Elliot & Bill Paxton as the Earp brothers. One of the best westerns of the last 30 years!

219. SUMMER RENTAL - When I was a kid & we first got our VCR, this movie was widely available for rental. You can’t help but root for John Candy as a dad who wants to have a relaxing vacation with his family & be a hero to his kids. Of course, EVERYTHING goes wrong. Funny movie!

220. PERSUASION - I’ve been enjoying watching Jane Austen movies this week. When I’m busy & stressed at work, I really enjoy movies with happy endings. Jane Austen’s movies are rewarding to watch as the happy endings are often hard earned with many challenges leading up to them.

221. YOU’VE GOT MAIL - This 90’s remake of the Jimmy Stewart classic, “The Shop Around the Corner,” is one of my top 5 romantic comedies. Tom Hanks & Meg Ryan are at their very best.

222. NOTTING HILL - Along with Hitch, Return to Me & You’ve Got Mail, this is one of my top romantic comedies of all time. I love a good underdog story!

223. 3:10 TO YUMA - Russell Crowe’s combination of charisma & menace in his role as outlaw Ben Wade makes for a special movie. Christian Bale is also good as the farmer taking him in for the $200 reward needed to save his ranch. Great remake of the classic Glenn Ford movie!

224. THE PROPOSITION - This Australian “western” is a tough watch. The desolate landscape is matched by the brutality onscreen as lawman Ray Winstone tries to bring down the notorious Burns brothers. Guy Pearce is the middle Burns brother who’s given the movie’s “proposition.”

225. L.A. CONFIDENTIAL - One of the great movies of the 90’s, Russell Crowe & Guy Pearce are perfect as L.A. cops trying to bring down corruption in the city of angels. Throw in Kevin Spacey, Danny DeVito & Kim Basinger, who won an Oscar for her performance. Highly recommended!

226. THE COUNT OF MONTE CRISTO - Edmond Dantes, falsely imprisoned by his jealous friend, spends 13 years in an isolated dungeon plotting his revenge. This movie is full of treachery, but it pays off with fully realized justice. GREAT movie based on the Alexander Dumas novel!

227. FREQUENCY - This is one of my favorite movies of all time. Dennis Quaid & Jim Caviezel play a father & son who get a chance to change their tragic pasts when they are mysteriously able to communicate through an old ham radio. For me, it’s an amazingly emotional experience.

228. PRIDE & PREJUDICE - After watching the definitive version with Colin Firth & Jennifer Ehle, I decided to check out this 2008 version playing on Hulu. It’s a very enjoyable movie with several well known actors like Dominic Cooper, Dan Stevens, David Morrissey & Janet McTeer.

229. PHENOMENON - John Travolta plays an ordinary guy who sees a flash of light in the sky one day & finds himself becoming a genius. This sudden transformation has an unsettling effect on those around him. Travolta was in the midst of a career resurgence when he made this film.

230. HITCH - This is one of my favorite romantic comedies. I love the relationship that develops between the characters as Will Smith tries to help Kevin James get the attention of the woman of his dreams. It’s a funny movie with a couple of really satisfying love stories!

231. JUSTIFIED: SEASON 3 - US Marshall Raylan Givens has his hands full in Season 3, not only with Boyd Crowder, but also with a powerful local hog farmer played by Mykelti Williamson. Neal McDonough is the epitome of smiling evil & sexual deviancy as a gangster from Detroit.

232. AN OFFICER AND A GENTLEMAN - Richard Gere & Debra Winger burned up the screen in this classic 80’s film about a troubled young man trying to make it through Navy Officer Candidate School. Lou Gossett, Jr. won an Oscar for his performance as a tough gunnery sergeant.

233. THE NICE GUYS - If you like Russell Crowe & Ryan Gosling, you will love this movie set in the 70’s about a couple of private eyes investigating a missing girl. Director & screenwriter Shane Black brings his usual humor mixed with violence. It’s a fun (and funny) movie!

234. AWAKENINGS - Robin Williams plays a doctor who finds a way to “awaken” patients who have been living in a coma-like state for decades. Robert DeNiro plays one of his patients. It’s initially exhilarating to see them wake up but it’s heartbreaking as they eventually regress.

235. THE MASK OF ZORRO - Antonio Banderas is great as a thief who wants to avenge the death of his brother. He comes across Zorro in the form of Anthony Hopkins, who has his own reasons for wanting to train him. They both have reasons to be interested in Catherine Zeta Jones.

236. THE ALAMO - John Wayne fulfilled a lifelong dream when he directed & starred (as Davy Crockett) in this version of the famous stand at the Alamo. And what a cast, Richard Widmark as Jim Bowie, Laurence Harvey as William Barrett Travis & Richard Boone as Sam Houston. Awesome!

237. MALONE - I’ve always had a soft spot for this movie. Malone (Burt Reynolds) wants to escape his past as a CIA assassin & find some peace. Of course it’s not easy as he comes across a group of nice people who are being forced off their property. It’s a classic western theme!

238. WORLD WAR Z - Brad Pitt plays a former U.N. investigator trying to settle into a more simple life with his family & young kids. And then a zombie plague hits & he gets called back in to travel around the world to try to find a way to stop the disease. I liked this movie.

239. BLUE VELVET - Once you’ve seen David Lynch’s “Blue Velvet” you can never forget it. I remember getting this on VHS when I was in Jr. High. I was not prepared for what I was about to see. If you haven’t seen it, I won’t spoil it for you, but Dennis Hopper is crazy! 🤣

240. GUARDING TESS - Nicolas Cage was about to break out as a star when he made this movie. Shirley MacLaine plays a former First Lady who wants Cage’s secret service agent to stay on her detail. He can’t stand her. Of course we know that will change. Enjoyable movie!

241. WE WERE SOLDIERS - Mel Gibson plays Lt. Col. Hal Moore in this war movie about an American cavalry unit who faces a much larger Vietnamese force in the Drang Valley. There is a lot of emphasis on brotherhood & the families back home. It’s a very emotional viewing experience.

242. RIO BRAVO - If I was forced to name my favorite western of all time, I’d pick this Howard Hawks’ classic. John Wayne, Dean Martin, Walter Brennan & Ricky Nelson face off against a group of paid killers when they arrest the brother of a powerful rancher. It’s a perfect movie.

243. UNCOMMON VALOR - Gene Hackman leads a group of soldiers on a privately funded rescue mission in search of his son & other POWs still being held in Laos 10 years after the war in Viet Nam. I enjoyed this movie back in the 80’s when I first saw it. I enjoyed it again today.

244. BEHIND ENEMY LINES - Owen Wilson plays a navigator shot down while on mission to photograph certain areas of Bosnia. Hackman plays his commanding officer who tries to keep him safe. This stylishly filmed war / rescue movie seems better now than when I saw it the first time.

245. YOUNG GUNS - I was 14 when this movie hit theaters back in ‘88. Needless to say, I loved it! Young stars Emilio Estevez, Kiefer Sutherland, Lou Diamond Phillips & Charlie Sheen share the screen with veterans like Jack Palance, Terrence Stamp & Patrick Wayne. Fun western!

246. THE GOLDEN CHILD - Eddie Murphy was the biggest star on the planet when he made this movie about a PI who faces all kinds of dark forces when he’s searching for special Tibetan child. It’s not that great, but if you like Murphy like I do, it’s still an enjoyable film.

247. NAPOLEON DYNAMITE - This is one strange movie but I have to admit I love it. You can’t help but pull for the lovable nerd, Napoleon. And for Pete’s sake, VOTE FOR PEDRO!

248. SKYFALL - The most popular of the Daniel Craig James Bond films. This is an excellent movie & showcases the relationship between Bond & Judi Dench’s “M.” Highly recommended!

249. CASINO ROYALE - Daniel Craig’s first time out as James Bond turned out to be just the shot in the arm that the franchise needed. Craig owns the role & makes an absolutely great Bond!

250. RUTHLESS PEOPLE - One of the best comedies of all time. Danny DeVito, Judge Reinhold, Bill Pullman & @BetteMidler are perfect in this film about a guy who wants to murder his wife, but she happens to get kidnapped on the day of his diabolical plan! Hilarious hijinks ensue!

251. BACK TO SCHOOL - I have personally found Rodney Dangerfield to be hilarious my entire life. This is one of my favorite rentals from my Jr. High years. It’s fun seeing Robert Downey, Jr., William Zabka, M. Emmet Walsh & Adrienne Barbeau in the supporting cast.

252. GINGER SNAPS - The girl from the Charles Bronson Christmas classic, “Yes Virginia, There is a Santa Claus,” turns into a werewolf and kills people. Mimi Rogers is her mom.

253. GONE IN 60 SECONDS - I was a sucker for these big, flashy Bruckheimer movies back in the 90’s. This Nicolas Cage action “vehicle” was made right as those types of movie were dying down. I still enjoy it & find it a fun 🍿 movie!

254. GOLDENEYE - After many years, Pierce Brosnan finally got his chance as James Bond. This movie did well at the box office & Brosnan made for an excellent Bond. Tina Turner’s theme song is a definite winner!

255. RONIN - Robert DeNiro made a few really good action movies during his career. This John Frankenheimer film features some excellent sequences & a great cast that also includes Sean Bean, Jean Reno & Stellan Skarsgard! Recommended!

256. HARRY BROWN - Michael Caine does his best Bronson imitation as a retired royal marine out to avenge his friend’s murder. It’s pretty downbeat, but a righteous revenge movie is always down my alley!

257. QUIGLEY DOWN UNDER - Tom Selleck’s finest hour. If you like Tom & a good western with clear good guys & bad guys, you can’t beat this movie. Highly recommended!

258. JUSTIFIED: SEASON 4 - This season proved that if you threaten the family of Raylan Givens, you’re going to be arrested or die. It’s that simple. If you haven’t watched this show, you’re missing out. On to season 5!

259. FATAL INSTINCT - Fun, silly movie for a Friday night.

261. RUNAWAY TRAIN - It’s been decades since I watched this movie about 2 escaped criminals, played by Jon Voight & Eric Roberts, who make their escape aboard the WRONG train. Based on a screenplay by Akira Kurosawa. It’s a good movie & one of the Cannon Film Group’s best!

262. THE RARE BREED - One of my favorite actors and cowboys, Jimmy Stewart, stars with the beautiful Maureen O’Hara in this story about the introduction of Hereford cattle to Texas. It’s a fun, raucous movie with plenty of fistfights & lively banter between Stewart & O’Hara.

263. THE YAKUZA - Robert Mitchum travels to Japan to find the kidnapped daughter of an American businessman. While there, he deals with the Yakuza & the woman from his past that he still loves. The great Japanese actor, Ken Takakura, has a prominent role in this excellent movie!

264. BONE TOMAHAWK - I’ll never forget the first time I saw this “western” with Kurt Russell. I’m not going to say anything about this move. It’s best not to.

265. MURDER AT 1600 - Wesley Snipes stars in this thriller about a cop investigating a murder that occurred at the White House. This movie has an outstanding cast & it takes several twists & turns along the way. Good movie.

266. TWISTER - Bill Paxton & Helen Hunt chase computer generated tornadoes in this box office hit from 1996. I saw this movie at the theater & I thought it was awesome. It doesn’t have quite the same bite today, but Phillip Seymour Hoffman is still awesome as the stoner chaser!
