Evening, I hope you are all enjoying your day/night. Here's a barrage of photos from this afternoon, a lovely 90mins spent wandering around Govan dry docks & the old Harland & Wolff basin in Govan. Here's what caught my eye, everything.
Starting at Harland & Wolff's old basin.
What remains of the west quayside of the basin. There is a brilliant old photo at the link below.
The tracks in Pic 1 look narrow. I think this was a yard line that ran between the crane tracks.

The view across to the Riverside Museum and the Tall Ship. More importantly, a peek down the three exposed manholes that were in front of me.
A sad but beautiful sight. These wee beacons of the past should be saved.
A belter that has so far avoided the scrappy. I love the worn grooves. I'm assuming this was ware and tear from mooring ropes.
Now across what was Highland Lane and in to the old Govan dry dock complex. A Victorian masterpiece lying in ruins. A pure riddy!
Time for a wee nosey.
More grooves, No.2 dock and a capstan with a similar drive unit to that of a traction lift. I've worked on brakes like that.
Brings out the inner wee guy in me.
It's a shame It's not clearer on my phone camera.
A bit of a drop and a bit of a mess. There was a few big bits of tarpaulin lying around. No doubt they have some bullshit hypocritical message written on them. Left for others to clean up post Cop26. Fannies!
A nice wee view of the Waverley and the Queen Mary.
The Stobcross Crane up to the left at Stobcross Quay, that's the quay next to Finnieston Quay. 😉
I see a hole for a very skinny man, squeeze through squeeze through, go for a nosey.
Sorry,
The next lot are of what remains of the old workshop/pumphouse. Time for a shimmy.
Govan's answer to the Crystal Maze, the Crystal Meth Maze.
Shame on every Glasgow City Council leader who has let this rot away during their time in office. It should be preserved and restored. That's what a grown up city would've done.
More but with a door.
Worth the nosey. A lovely view from the base of the tower. Back out in to the shop.
Last few from inside. Stay off the steel and on the concrete. Not quite as catchy as Bullseye but safer.
Sad and embarrassing. Nothing but complete preservation and then restoration is good enough. Our maritime/working class heritage deserves it.
Pic 2 - from the Glasgow Tower, 2017.
Walk/rant over. Thanks for making this far. A great place to visit the ghosts of Clydeside past.
All the best for 2022.

Fuldaborg arriving in for Shieldhall last night.
Pic 1 - the tug Anglegarth passing Yoker.
Pic 2,3 & 4 - arriving upriver and canting at the mouth of KGV dock.
She is in with soya beans.
Enjoy the bells. ✌ ImageImageImageImage
A wee timelapse of her arriving and canting.
Here's something a wee bit different for you. About 15yr ago I made a shrewd purchase from Victor Morris. Naw, no a chib but a vhf marine receiver. It's for listening to movements on the Clyde. Here's last night's pilot chatting to the two tug masters.🤭
Awerabest for 2022.✌

Just back from a day trip to Cowcaddens and Garnethill. The area my dad's side grew up & went to school in. Got the train to Charing X then wandered the street.
