April:

On the 17th of April 2021, The Bored Ape Yacht Club announced on Twitter that they would be releasing 10,000 Bored Apes. In this thread, the Bathroom was introduced as well as “an interactive NFT breeding arcade game: MUTANT APES!”

Bored Ape concept sketches were shared to display some of the early artistic ideas
Leading up to the presale, The BAYC offered several notable Crypto Twitter accounts such as @MoonOverlord, Honorary Bored Apes that belong to a separate, special collection.
On the 23rd of April, BAYC launched a presale that lasted 7 days. Because bonding curves are ponzis, every Bored Ape was sold at 0.08 + gas.
On the last day of the presale, @tropoFarmer completed all 3 puzzles that apes eagerly worked on solving in Discord throughout the week.
Right after the presale window ended, The Bored Ape Yacht Club launched “The Bathroom” where apes collaboratively drew pixelated art across the digital bathroom wall. With an assortment of 16 colors, apes could place 1 pixel every 15 minutes.
On Friday of launch-week, Bored Ape holders refreshed their metadata to reveal their apes!
May:

Following the reveal, a sudden surge of minting began. Massive sweeps from NFT whales like @pranksy and @j1mmyeth further contributed to the mania. At 4:35 AM EST, the next day, the BAYC collection minted out entirely. All eyes were on Bored Apes.
Apes began forming sub-communities. The earliest gang formed, Ape Mafia, was founded by @0xAPEFATHER on May 4th. Shortly after, the Cheetah Gang was founded by @codyboston19 and meme wars between Cheetahs and DMTs were waged.
In the first week, apes united across Twitter and #apefollowape became a popular practice which considerably strengthened networking and comradery. Twitter Spaces hosted by apes like @NFTsAnonymous and @beijingdou greatly boosted kinship among apes.
The BAYC launched a curated lofi hiphop playlist on Youtube, and these tunes were played in Twitter Spaces as well as Discord Audio meetups.
Amazing derivative artists such as @Dario_Desiena began creating incredible artwork demonstrating the use of the Bored Ape IP
Community organizer @crypt0jack created a directory for apes to share skillsets and discover each other for collaborations
On May 15th, the Sandbox partnered with BAYC which got apes excited for their future in the metaverse.
Apes started popping up on billboards after @themonarch00 kicked off the trend
Due to apes’ heavy presence on Twitter and Discord, Punks Comic reached out to hint at a Bored Ape edition shortly after releasing their initial comic.
After BAYC acquired an estate in the Sandbox, apes bought up massive amounts of the surrounding land and @beijingdou charted the purchases.
The first Merch Drop was launched on May 29. The limited run merch sold out in only 6 minutes and quickly, Bored Ape fashion became highly sought-after. The merch resold on secondary at a premium right out the gate.
The Great BAYC and Meebit war was captured in this historical piece by @Beeple featuring @danny_p3d’s ape getting absolutely rekt. Later he would create “Revenge of the Planet of the Bored Apes” depicting apes carrying out the downfall of the Meebit pig
June:

Ape @holderofbags kicked off a BAYC tattoo trend after inking in this beauty.
Our favorite valet in the Yacht Club, @jenkinsthevalet, announced the upcoming launch of Writer’s Room which has quickly grown into a massive endeavor demonstrating the great potential of Bored Ape IP.
Punks Comic launched a bracket-style voting event called “Ape Madness” to select 8 Elite Apes who would be featured in the second edition.
The Bored Ape Yacht Club released the first companions for apes, doggos. For each ape held, a respective dog could be claimed during the limited time claim window. Secondary sale royalties were donated to charity through The Giving Block.
On June 24th, @SnoopDogg replied to @WakaFlocka who recommended he buy an ape. At the time, he was interested in getting an ape with “all gold everything.”
July:

@Bassjackers created a music video featuring an army of apes whose owners granted permission for use.
Artist @offshoot3D started creating Bored Ape animations such as this one featuring Ape 3773 mimicking the viral Kombucha Girl Tik Tok video.
The Bored Ape Yacht Club X The Hundreds collaboration was teased in early July.
Apes who received 3D models from House of Kibaa began animating their apes in incredible ways. Here is a throwback to @NFTartCo’s dancing ape animation.
@Bassjackers performed “Bored Ape Rave Club” live at a set in San Fransisco!
The “Elite Apes” were finalized on July 19th. This is the list of apes who are making an appearance in Punks Comic Edition #2.
Bored Ape Yacht Club members came together for the first in-real-life meet up in Venice, CA also available to livestream on Decentraland. Multi-instrumentalist, @RichVagner performed a set after the release of his first NFT album, “The Hunt.”
Founder of Myth Division, @RamonGovea, completed Issue #0 of Bored Ape Seeks Yacht Club!
When the claim window on Bored Ape Kennel Club closed, several hundred were released into the swamp. This Gold Dog King was one of those. Legend has it, you can hear his royal barks behind the Yacht Club if you listen closely.
Taylor Gerring put together one of the best BAYC/BAKC combos to date. Taylor’s King’s Crown ape has a loyal pal, also wearing a crown, providing his master with matching royal red slippers. The ultimate combination.
@0xWave proposed a challenge to BAYC members – the Death Nut Challenge. Apes ingested these flaming hot peanuts over Discord Audio. The event brought the community together in a way they would never forget regardless of how painful it was.
Doggo owners were surprised with a Round 21 NFT airdrop. This basketball NFT allowed owners to purchase a physical, limited edition BAYC ball.
The Riverboat Casino in Decentraland opened in August and apes jumped in to play games and watch @SpottieWiFi’s performance of the “I’m Spottie” album release.
Progress for 3D ape avatars was revealed in a sneak peek.
Before the Mutant Serum airdrop, @CryptoGarga announced on Discord that “Mutants are insane.” Following the announcement, apes began declaring the news everywhere and to this day those words stand true.
M1, M2, and M3 mutant serums were verifiably, randomly airdropped to each ape. Apes that drank the serum received an insane mutant with traits corresponding to their serum’s tier. M3’s also known as Mega Mutant Serums yielded special 1/1 legendary apes
Once mutants sold out during the Dutch auction, Bored Ape Yacht Club teased their next big move inquiring about “bar space in Miami.”
Hundreds X BAYC merch drop launched, and limited-time shirts and hoodies were sold on the BAYC and The Hundreds’ merch websites. Limited-run rugs were also available which quickly sold out on both websites.
Arizona Iced Tea was one of the first major brands to join the Yacht Club back in August.
Golden State Warriors’ Steph Curry joined the Yacht Club and dropped by Discord to chat with the apes!
On the day of the mutant serum airdrop and Dutch auction, the BAYC team launched a limited-time pixelated mutant platform game. Anyone who defeated the Mutant Ape over several progressively challenging rounds earned a special POAP.
September:

Sotheby’s Auction House hosted an auction for a lot of 101 Bored Apes and 101 Bored Ape Kennel Club dogs. The buyer fetched the lot of apes for over $24 million. The bundle of dogs sold for over $1.8 million!
The Bored Ape Yacht Club is a big fan of puzzles. In September, the team released the most challenging one yet. The treasure hunt was kicked off with a picture of this “strange note” containing a string of characters
@metalinklabs integrated Bored Apes into its Social Media application that allows NFT holders to verify their NFTs and partake in an exclusive environment free of impostors.
Apes hosted another meetup in Denver where @RichVagner performed a set.
In anticipation of the Christie’s Bored Ape Auction, apes across twitter changed their PFPs to apes in suits. The trend was named #SuitsOn4Christies. Even Steph Curry and Draft Kings suited up to show their support.
The Bored Ape Yacht Club revealed Roadmap 2.0 on September 21, 2021 which depicts various milestones with short descriptions. Because of the briefness of the descriptions, apes began theorizing which each milestone could mean
@jtobcat, along with the help of a few friends cracked the treasure hunt code and was rewarded an ape, dog, serum, and RTFKT special edition sneakers!
Jenkins the Valet signed a representation deal with CAA for the Writer’s Room! Jenkins was also featured in a Forbes article that week which detailed the signing.
Joe Rogan talked with producer, Jamie Vernon about the Bored Ape Yacht Club during one of his podcasts. You can even see @carsonturner’s ape in the video. Vernon later joined the Yacht Club after purchasing a mutant ape.
Bored Ape #8746 sold at the Christie’s Auction House for 9,610,000 HKD or 1.23 mil USD. The Blue-beam, Cheetah, Halo, Business Suit “grail” ape is now in the possession of @Cymbalda.
October:

The collector, 0xb1 who owns the notorious Demon Mega Mutant signed with CAA, the same agency that recently signed Jenkins the Valet.
The Bored Ape Yacht Club announced that a BAYC token will be expected to launch around Q1 of 2022. To ensure legal compliance, the team will work with @FenwickWest LLP.
30 apes met up in London for a BAYC UK event on the water!
In October, apes chose Vegas for their meetup location, and once again @RichVagner was there to put on a great performance.

The biggest ape event of the year kicked off in New York City, and members waited patiently in line to receive their yacht wristbands. The line was so long, the BAYC team provided time-slot wristbands to break it up.

LCD Soundsystem’s James Murphy jumped in to perform a set at the yacht party which was a huge surprise to many.
November:

On November 1st, the Rolling Stone collaborated with Bored Ape Yacht Club to drop limited-edition zines.
After the yacht party, Ape Fest attendees claimed free tacos from a BAYC taco truck, bought unique clothing at a merch pop-up, and headed over to the Brooklyn Steel warehouse party!
New York Times bestselling author, Neil Strauss, was announced as the author assisting Jenkins in the Writer’s Room project.
At the Warehouse party, apes were treated to special guests including DJ Mary Mac, actor Aziz Ansari, Beck, DJ Mike Medved, Chris Rock, The Strokes, Quest Love, and Lil Baby!
Universal Music Group N.V. announced they will be bringing a virtual band of Bored Apes into the metaverse! The band will feature 3 bored apes and a mutant.
In the intro of his new music video with the Weeknd, @Postmalone purchases his newly acquired zombie cowboy ape.
Bored Apes attended @BAYCBasel in Miami, hosted by @NFT_Papi_. Special appearances included musical artists @SpottieWiFi, @investinStockz, and @RichVagner.
Timbaland, launched Ape-In Productions, a company that “will launch and promote Bored Apes as successful music artists in the metaverse” (as cited in Timbaland Unites With Bored Ape Yacht Club Owners to Form Artist-Owned Ape-In Productions).
The BAYC team announced the upcoming mobile game competition that has various prizes for top qualifying players. The game launch was delayed due to some issues with Apple. In the meantime, they are working with Apple to get the game back on the app store.
December:

Adidas Originals and Bored Ape Yacht Club released a collaborative NFT, “Into the Metaverse.”
After purchasing a Mega Mutant Serum, @TaylorGerring livestreamed the reveal and applied the M3 serum to his Cheetah Ape. In a weird twist of fate, the resulting Mega Mutant was a DMT! Beeple created “Birth of a Mutant” in honor of this legendary moment.
To close out the year, Eminem purchased a Bored Ape and set it as his PFP!
