‘Bro have you heard about Kefir? It’s like yoghurt but on steroids. All the Caucasus homies drink it and grow over 100 years old easily. You have to drink it man.’
Ok… but why? What is kefir and why should I drink it?
Let’s dive in… 👇
//THREAD//
Kefir is a form of dairy. You get it by fermenting raw milk (usually cow or goat’s) and adding kefir grains, which are little balls of bacteria and yeasts (see picture above). Scientists can’t even replicate these grains: that’s how complex they are.
Nobody knows where they came from and previously they only existed in the Caucasus until Irina, a Russian hotty, seduced the mountain boys to get their kefir grains -ok not quite but anyway- and the rest of the world got to experience the benefits too.
And let me tell you about those benefits. They. Are. Insane. It is literally a nutritional powerhouse.
For example, kefir has 20-30 bacteria strains (yoghurt has 10 at best) which restore the bacteria in your gut to help you absorb all nutrients better and fight off diseases.
Hippocrates was right when he said all illness starts in the gut. A man with a fucked gut is a man with a fucked mind @realalejandroAD.
Kefir fixes your gut, and it is also a great drink for people who are lactose intolerant.
Why?👇
Because after 24 hours of fermentation, the enzyme lactase has broken down 99% of the lactose. No more irritated bowel syndrome and gut dysbiosis for you pal ;)
(My dad stopped seeing doctors completely when I got him kefir-pilled!)
Plus, studies showed that people who drank kefir were ill less often, and that the periods of being ill were shorter too.
In other words, their immune system is stronger, due to a healthy gut from all the bacteria in the kefir.
Maybe that’s why almost all primitive tribes drink some form of fermented dairy? Maybe that’s why the Caucasus people are so healthy and grow so old?

The main benefit of kefir, however, comes from the fermentation...
Fermentation, basically a way to pre-digest your food, turns the already nutritious raw milk into a superfood.
It breaks down the milk proteins into all 9 essential amino acids, including tryptophan.
Tryptophan is the building block of serotonin, which is your happy hormone. Serotonin itself is a precursor of melatonin, your sleep hormone.
So simply put, no kefir = no tryptophan = bad sleep and bad mood. Not good.
Fermentation also helps digestive enzymes to break down the milk proteins into peptides, including creatine and collagen, which are crucial for building muscle and a healthy skin, among others.
You’ve probably heard of those two from your bodybuilder friends, right?
Yes you have. They are two of the over 200 different peptides in kefir, all with great health benefits. None of which were present in the milk before fermentation.
Epic, huh?
So, if you have bad skin or struggle to build muscle, drink more of this powerful dairy on the daily.
Besides that, kefir not only has ALL(!) B vitamins, it also has all fat soluble vitamins (A,D,E,K2), which are hard to find in other foods. The drink has many minerals too.
Vitamin K2 is especially imporant because it helps calcium bind to your bones instead of your arteries.
Vegans are often deficient in this specific nutrient, leading to more bone fractures and atherosclerosis (calcification of your arteries).
- predigested content(through fermentation) maximizes nutrient absorption
- repopulates your gut microbiome: better production peptides and enzymes
- fights bacteria, viruses and even cancer cells
No supplement can beat kefir. With modern science, that says a lot.
Note: use raw milk, otherwise the pasteurization removes much of the nutritional value and with it the benefits. Water kefir is possible too, but milk is better. Same for grains vs powder. Always choose grains, for the same reasons. Lab made supplements simply can’t beat nature.
