VeVe Community Update & #VeVeAMA on Twitter Spaces Recap! (7 Jan, 2022)
Answers paraphrased for space
[THREAD]
2021 saw explosive growth. 1.4M monthly active users, over 300K+ daily on average, 3M+ NFT editions sold. This has surpassed our initial projections for our 4th year.
Shoutout to our devs who worked around the clock in the first few months to meet our unprecedented demand 🙏
2022 & Beyond:
In general, expect to see more utility and interactivity. Licensors are taking a more proactive approach in this regard.
We'll see more “digital clones” as well, NFTs with physical counterparts, etc. 👯♀️
On Bots:
We take bot activity very seriously. In addition to working with the world’s top anti-bot protection provider, we have a dedicated team to identify bot traffic.
Drops sell out so quickly, the immediate assumption is that it must be bots. In reality, there is simply much more demand than supply exactly at drop time.
Each drop, we block 25-30% of the incoming traffic and have disabled at least 250K accounts for this.
Disabled Accounts:
There is a small number of false positives, which we take seriously. We're improving our support and identification processes here and are prioritizing reenabling these accounts.
All confirmed bot users will continued to be disabled for violating the T&Cs.
Drop Queue:
Most of the backend infrastructure is in place. We're now working on the frontend/UI and will try a couple drops to make sure everything is working as intended.
After that, we will replace the current drop system!
Cereal Killers SR Update:
We minted a bit too low compared to the full amount of people who held all 3 sets by the cutoff. We are minting 666 gold Lucky Charmers for the 200+ people who didn't get the gold bunny.
We apologize for the long wait while we figured this out.
App Updates:
- Bug fixes for Showroom, AR, and Market
- Drop times will now be shown in your local time
- Improved, consistent messaging
Focus for 2022:
- App feed redesign + new features
- Reorganized market & comic sections / nav updates
- Localization
MTL/Cash Out:
One of the reasons this has been in development for so long is that anti-money laundering laws have become very stringent as the crypto space gets a lot more scrutiny compared to other industries. The goal posts have moved a few times, so to speak.
We have deployed cash out in a production environment and have been testing with a small group of users. We are now pending add'l legal review, then we will be able to open to a wider testing group. Rollout will happen in phases.
Unfortunately, some countries will be excluded because those countries don’t allow certain cash out functions - we will document and announce all of the details ahead of the public release.
We started developing this feature in 2021 and the progress has been very fast for our particular implementation compared to similar cases. We appreciate your patience as we finalize and roll out the feature in the coming weeks.
Interoperability:
It won’t be every licensor to begin with. Some licensors are still a bit nervous about the open NFT world, but we do expect more to come with time. We will announce the list of licensors once interoperability is ready to roll out.
Q: Will we be able to use our front camera in AR? Occlusion update?
A: Almost done, aiming for Q1. Occlusion allows for collectibles to be placed in front of your face vs. always behind as it is now. It will be more realistic and allow for more environmental interaction.
Comics in Showrooms:
We are very close to the end of development on this. We will release more info on this in the next few weeks.
Comics on walls, readable in the showroom, etc. Can't wait!
Q: Will we have the ability to sell full sets in the future?
A: Hopefully later this year.
Q: Will there be KYC when cashing out?
A: Yes, KYC will be required before you can cash out.
Q: Captcha for drop queue?
A: Only shows up if you're deemed as a low risk threat.
Q: What happens to NFTs when accounts are disabled?
A: Collectibles are held until the user goes through KYC. We don’t keep them unless it’s clear the account is using unfair measures. If we do retrieve, we will use them for giveaways, etc. We do not resell collectibles.
Rabbit Grin:
These will be very limited physical + NFT pieces, signed and numbered. Very special.
More info in the coming weeks.

FUD Busting
In any industry with limited edition, high-value drops, bots are going to try. Even though there have been videos and screenshots out there, that by no means means drops have been overtaken by bots. Our system catches 99% of bots and shuts them down.
