People do understand that “far left” and “far right” do not mean “how much I disagree with them on the internet”, right?

Just asking.

PS. The “far left” in America are Centre-Right at best.
Words and concepts have bloody definitions and I am getting pretty damn tired of America and their made up “if you say it or believe it, it’s true” utter nonsense
“Left” is organising the economy more around a safety net, plus more progressive policies (of which Wokeness is not progressive as it feeds the superstructure)

“Right” = Laissez Faire economics, minimal government, corporate power, status quo, WASP.
The worst thing that ever happened was America deciding Horseshoe Theory was a thing and telling their nation of retards that it’s a thing. It’s not a thing.
America has spent trillions of dollars on preventing their populace from understanding the political spectrum, calling the left authoritarian and otherwise letterboxing their political understanding to all right wing, save for a small % of actual socialists.
America doesn’t “spread Democracy” - they fight the left and if they have one mission in this world it is to declare war on anything left of centre.

Your brains are fucking scrambled and stop coming @ me with your made up nonsense.
America’s only goal has been ensuring that there is no other way of organising the economy other than no safety net, starvation, and anti-socialism around the world. And making sure the 1% in America - not even their own citizens - are the only ones who benefit.
The nation that succeeded through bum luck, timing and aggression rather than merit has rewritten history - time and time again - and exposes the worlds citizens to its death cult of “merit” and “manifest destiny” how we should be. Easily the stupidest people on earth.
Granted, Australians are pretty stupid too - but we aren’t dangerous, reckless or bullies telling us what democracy looks like (military dictatorship). Anyway words have meanings. Stop being dumb. Have a great day.
America: truth is irrelevant so long as you can sell it.

Whatever bullshit falls out of your mouth becomes true if others buy it.

If enough people buy it and you get rich from your lies, it means you are correct, because only the correct people succeed.

See the grift?
Note to Wikipedia tard 'commentators' on YouTube:

Just because something has a page, doesn't make it authoritative. Horseshoe Theory is one model, yes. But political science has hundreds of models, much like Psych has Personality Factors.

If you were an expert, you'd know this.
The history of political models has been really interesting - because the 'political axis' and horseshoe thoeries coming out of Harvard etc are held with wide suspicion outside the US. But of course you state it like it's a Theory because it has the word Theory in it, idiots.
Look at this example of how political models have been manipulated with the famous 'political compass':

1. It equates Marxism with Leninism only, which is ridiculous.

2. It is a self-report, which is always heavily subjected response bias - ie self perception vs action
Political compass works okay on policy, but has major limitations and is obviously skewed in favour of the American narrative. The fact they have sold it as "Universal" has US stink all over it because all political scientists know that there are differences between cultures.
This is why the #australiahasfallen nonsense is - well - obviously coming out of the US propaganda networks into the brains of people who watch too much American TV.

There are nuances to political culture that intersect with psychology (it's why I am at home in Political Psych)
A good test for whether something is likely US propaganda coming from the Freedom™ Eagle™ Press is that it imposes a United States political worldview onto another culture. Such as "Liberty" and "Freedom". If there's an eagle on it, it's definitely bullshit lol
Anyway, political compass provides a US (simplistic, ahistorical) perspective, relies on peoples' tendency to see themselves favourably to make it authoritative. Understanding how "theories" can be shoved through journals and made authoritative has been perfected by the US.
The role of journals in this can't be understated. The US have manipulated this market for a very long time. Oil, Tobacco, Food... you name it. The US government know that if you control the flow of information, you control everything else. They hired Nazi Doctors for fucks sake.
So when Americans impose dumbass tediously pedantic and metaphysical conversations over which 'belief' is true, acting like persuasion and holding eye contact whilst you sell something is all there is... well, sorry but no belief is true - what's true is true.
If you're interested, have a look at Russian Psychologists like Vygotsky and how their work was memory-holed - especially around the DSM and how, under a more collective, egalitarian economy (ie socialism), those 'personality disorder' behaviours are no longer there.
I think experimental Psych is important - but yet again through a campaign of memory-holing and controlling narratives through APA, Psychology now has no critical aspect to it. It's only because I am already a Marx boffin that I spotted the spin as 'fact'. Most don't question it.
Anyway, stop being naive. You're sitting on US-run social networks, astroturfed by US corporations, all trying to sell you lies convincingly so you believe it, so it is then made true.

But hey, I were right, I would make more money or have a check mark... right?
If you seriously believe that Tim Pool, Joe Rogan, BreadTubers and other people are successful because they're simpler better or smarter or more correct... I have a bridge to sell you.

They're just useful.
The problem with making things a belief, rather than true or not true, means that to criticise any component of the belief is to throw it out completely.

You see this everywhere - to point out one flaw means it is ALL WRONG. The US build cults around everything. It's nuts.
It's so weird to see this insanely dichotomous thinking in every aspect of US political debate. FOR or AGAINST. LEFT or RIGHT. GOD or NO GOD. FRIEND or ENEMY.

It's bonkers religiosity linked directly to needing belief rather than truth.

Post-truth was not started by Trump.
The whole political culture is one of dichotomy and zero sum thinking - dare I say a psychological side effect of Laissez Faire economics - Marx called it alienation. The fact is, most of us operate with AND rather than OR operators.

Anyway, I am waffling. Just some thoughts.
Circling back to Wokeness.

Wokeness is a result of all these forces I mentioned above - it borrows the language of the left, gentrifies it, sanitises it, strips it of its economic roots and turns it into a corporate breakfast and rainbow lanyards on cops.
If you understand the TRILLIONS of dollars that have been dedicated to this - one could argue it is the US' one and only mission to fight communism and expand their neocon military dictatorship death cult, you understand that this Woke shit is just a part of that.
So please stop calling these morons and Gender Studies Paedos the "far left". They are the *enemy* of the left and work exactly as designed - as a diversion from truth and replacing with belief.

Not the people. The people are victims like any other person who is in a cult.
There's a saying in International Relations that there are no allies, only interests.

The clues are there when you pay attention and focus on what's true rather than beliefs.

The use of the word "ally" is interesting in Woke circles.

There are no allies, only interests. Duh.
Side point: real lefties use Comrade (whether ironically or unironically). The fact that the word "ally" has featured so prominently - in grads concerned with linguistics and the history of words - well...
Anyway, tangent... Americans (and their midwit corporate 'allies' worldwide) are all serving the same right wing military dictatorship and are a hot wet fart of mystical thinking and stupidity inflicted on the rest of us... it's tedious. They ain't the far left. FFS. I am.
Pro Tip for the Wikipedia skim-readers who call themselves political commentators:

When you hear of a concept:

1. Open your computer
2. Open Search
3. Type <concept> + criticism
4. Go to second page, not just the snippet.

Read.

Or, don't commentate. That'd be better.
Also, when you see something on Wikipedia, look at the sidebar and how many interrelated concepts there are just within the discipline of political science. Then do economics. Then psychology.

Then see that Wikipedia is a TL;DR with many gaps.

That's what degrees give you.
"That's an appeal to authority" says the dude with My First Book of Fallacies.

Fallacies are for peers in a planned debate or Philosophy department, not some rando who has read too many articles with Eagles on them and skim-read a Wikipedia page on authoritarianism.
Before you comment on Australia's supposed 'authoritarianism' and having 'fallen', I think maybe you should learn the history/reasoning behind why we don't have a Bill of Rights, and how our Common Law system is the default over legislation, and how levels of government interact.
In general, if you are positioning yourself as a 'political commentator', then you have an obligation to understand theory. Otherwise, you're just a rando with an opinion.

I don't even call myself a political commentator and I have postgrad in politics. lol
Sorry for long thread... you know by now I like to work through/tease out thoughts that eventually become something else.

But I am so unbelievably frustrated by these "Wokism" bros who see a grift and don't engage literature to find out what's true. I did. It took me 5 years.
I can say that I can address/answer any aspect of the Woke/MAGA symbiosis, from every angle, with confidence.

But I have a moral compass. Won't share TikTok videos of unwell kids. Focused on truth over belief/tribe. Don't have a dick or money. So, I sit here, frustrated. heh
Knowing that in order to be 'taken seriously' in the US dominated media landscape, I've spent 3 years learning how to talk to cameras and shit I hate (and shouldn't have to do). I'm starting to show up in places. I'll be on your thing if you want. Gotta do what you gotta do.
But know that just because someone says something with confidence on a camera, and has more followers and money... does not make them correct.

It means they are good at sales; talking with confidence on camera; editing; and can ignore nagging feelings that I can't.
If you knew how frustrated a lot of my friends are: academics, doctors, psychologists, public servants, business leaders - that can't talk publicly because they're gagged by boards/standards/clients whilst any idiot can make a living spouting bad opinions... you'd be shocked.
Very few are in a position to have public opinions anymore, because of NDAs/Codes of Conduct. Assume when people speak with authority that they're doing it without said gags, which means they are outside regulation/standards.

I still don't speak about certain things due to NDAs.
Anyway, thanks for reading this stream of consciousness. This format works for me of 'thought'+afterthought+afterthought where I tease out ideas.

Off to write a post about how we live in an information desert. Bye <3

Also, didn't share this enough.

Oh God #australiahasfallen again

I haven't even had my coffee yet. Trying to decide between oat milk and almond milk before I get my neighbours sent to the camps.

Not for any reason. They have a pool. I miss having a pool.

PS having woken up to see the network of GOP Bullshit factories trackbacks... don't believe any of this nonsense. And read my post from the other day.
Seriously, 20+ GOP "Patriot" themed "publications", all sharing an identical article. All linking to each other.

Exactly what I wrote about the other day.

This is how GOP use innocent people who are going about their professional lives to lend legitimacy to their horseshit.

How do these “everything is power and a social construct” folx so blatantly ignore that being morbidly obese benefits Unilever, puberty blockers benefit Pharma, racial divisions prevent labour organising…

How on earth can you study power without economic interests? Dolts.
It is endlessly fascinating to see how the Humanities were gutted in a way that even departments don’t notice. Just slowly build an army of idiots with no actual education who do the bidding of the structures they’re supposed to critique.

Marx would be enthralled/impressed.
Watching the people attempt to debate in any setting outside their bubble is legit embarrassing for them. Like, devastatingly embarrassing.

It really does strike me as religious: “if you would just read the bible, you’d agree” kind of arguments…

Nar. Read it. Nonsense.

Desperately want to talk about the mass formation psychosis stuff (I already knew about it, and have been warning about it in so many words for some time), but I know what's good for me. As for whether this is another bullshit twisting by the far right, I have concerns... but...
So, this has played out very much like I expected.

The far right disinformation propaganda/radicalisation networks use SEO effectively as part of their strategy. So they make sure they are the source when people Google. It's like whack-a-mole there.
Now, one thing the right does is take a niche concept and create checklists that feed confirmation bias. I have had things I said to people in that network taken and used in that way. But the thing is they both do it. You need to look at the tactics.

She has a name. She has expertise. She thinks you should get better sources than James Lindsay, who is promoting the same old red scare nonsense from the 1960s. lol
Is there anything more tedious than pseudointellectual culture wars bros quoting Lindsay at women who know better?
It’s always nice to know that a random dude quoting a person outside the Humanities who purposely leaves parts out due to his funding is still considered more authoritative than a “she” who knows what she’s talking about.

God these guys should FOAD.

There has to be a better way than censorship.

We are arguing this from the wrong angle - those who love censorship don't care about the civil liberties of their enemy. That is how outgrouping works.

It's like spanking of kids. You can't proselytize it.

It simply doesn't work.
The problem with the radicalisation funnels is that they already have this stuff built in.

You are the victim
You are under attack
THEY are powerful
THEY will censor you

So when you censor it, what happens?

You ENCOURAGE the double down.
The unique problem with radicalisation vs people being just dumb is that it is more like cult programming/thought reform than evidence and reason.

Reasonable actions are all reframed as some big conspiracy by an all-powerful out-group to persecute you.
