Experience is always the best teacher.

Below is my rehab horror story, which has shaped the way I do things today with everyone I work with.
7 Years ago I was playing football at the highest level and trialling at numerous professional clubs in Australia.

On an extremely wet day, I landed heavily on an outstretched arm.

I dislocated my shoulder, put it back into place and continued on with the rest of the game.
The following day I could not even pick up a pencil.

The Gamblers Gene.

Do you:
- Love gambling?
- Taking extreme risk in business & personal life?

THE Dopamine D4 receptor gene (DRD4-7R)

Dopamine is a chemical that binds to receptors in your nerves.

The variant DRD4-7R causes less binding of Dopamine.

Therefore what others find extremely rewarding, someone with this defect will see it as mundane.

Varying studies find that ~15-20% of people have this genetic mutation.

In previous times when extreme risk would have led to death, it has also likely been the reason why Captain Cook, Ragnar Lothbrok went on insane expeditions.

Taran came to me as he felt completely lost when it came to training specifically for Muay Thai & Boxing.

He was also playing football, so had a variety of goals that were being limited by a nagging knee pain.
Taran being from the UK meant:

- Constant lockdowns
- Having to be extremely creative with workouts
- Having to switch between home & gym based workouts week to week.

Even with all of these set-backs, Taran's punching power and sprint speed skyrocketed.
Objective testing is always utilised, to hold both Taran and I accountable.

This ensures training is having the carryover necessary to improve performance.

In just 2 blocks of programming Taran's saw significant jumps in sprint speed and punching force.
