Hours after this woman allegedly threw her newborn in a dumpster, three passersby heard crying, rescued the child and called 911. foxnews.com/us/new-mexico-…
All 50 states have "safe haven" laws that allow newborn children to be surrendered safely to a designated location, according to the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services. Learn more 👇 childwelfare.gov/pubpdfs/safeha…
Police say the male baby is in stable condition at a hospital in Lubbock, Texas.
The identity of the newborn's father is being withheld because he is a juvenile. The suspect told police she stopped talking to him back in August and claimed she did not know she was pregnant, according to Hobbs police.
Three good Samaritans were scavenging the dumpster for "anything of value" when they heard the baby's cries through a plastic bag, according to authorities, who said their next actions were "absolutely pivotal" to saving the child.
Police have identified the good Samaritans as Michael Green, Hector Jasso and April Nuttall. They said they played a "pivotal" role in saving the child along with local business owner Joe Imbriale, whose security cameras recorded the whole thing.
