Timetable is a challenging one and we may not know the final district lines until sometime in February (and it may also end up in court). Primaries aside, it gives Dems short runway to challenge all seats necessary to maximize NY’s registration and voting pattern advantage. 4/
While we may not know shape of actual NY districts for another month, there are clearly several battlegrounds taking shape: Long Island, Brooklyn/Staten Island district, Hudson Valley, Southern Tier - and depending on how lines are finalized - areas north and west of Albany. 5/
Contrary to the constant thrum of “Dems in disarray” pushed by the media, our activist base is beginning to focus on the opportunities here in New York - and they increasingly see the New York State GOP as extremist and worth defeating. 6/
There is a gap between the messaging of our elected Democratic leadership and the local battles on the ground - including at the school board level. There is a strong desire to “take the offensive” against the extremists in their communities or on social media. 7/
They also want the economic successes of the Biden Administration pushed down to the local level to combat dishonest GOP frames on the economy and crime 8/
