One of the things that the #1619project has done to my mind is make it even more plain that all that "law and order" crap was code for criminalizing harmless behavior by Black americans while green-lighting vast organized financial fraud which does terrible harm to democracy.

If working class/middle class white americans could see their interests are perfectly aligned with working class/middle class Black americans, we could make progress against the tax evaders and market manipulators. Rs and cheaters will drive what wedge until democracy is dead.

It's 2022 and weed is a still a schedule 1 drug and Super PACs allowing unlimited corporate/cartel/taxcheater donations are legal. And there are 2.3 Million people in US jails.
Trump is the perfect flagship of this pheonomena. A life of financial crime and illicit drugs. No consequences. Constantly drives wedges against minorities in the US. His perfect voter: white american easily duped into voting against Blacks instead of voting for a better future
What #1619project demonstrates is that this wedge is exact same one that gave us the 3/5ths compromise; caused the Civil War; got MLK murdered; passed the Reagan and Bush tax cuts and gave us Trumpism.
At every juncture, the evils/slavers got white americans to chose a path that made the cheating mega rich vastly more powerful and pushed all of the rest of us closer to the brink of ill health and poverty. It's maddening.
