I randomly decided to update my wiki's BRender page so I put in some info about existing BRender SDKs and where to find them. So if you want to make a DOS game using stolen 1995 software 3D technology, now you know where to start!
and I haven't yet finished figuring out all the files, but I did some documentation on the warez 1.1.2 SDK, and which files go to which compilers:…
also the docs say "Microsoft C++ 2.0" but that's from like 1984?
I think they mean Microsoft Visual C++ 2.0, which is from... 1994ish?
Microsoft Visual C++ 2.0 and Pharlap TNT.

I have no idea where to find Pharlap TNT.
OK so by digging through the makefiles (THE BEST DOCUMENTATION IS STUFF THAT HAS TO BE UP TO DATE BECAUSE OTHERWISE IT WON'T WORK) I identified all the files, minus two: DIOX3WRR.LIB and DIOX3WRS.LIB
They're DIO means dos IO and WRS/WRR means "Watcom", but I don't know what the X3 is.
I'm also gonna do some work on setting up an documenting at least one (if not all 3) compiler setups to actually compile code against these libraries
the future of 1995
it took a while but I got the tech demo to render a skull

When did crosses start hurting vampires?
Because you might say "crosses have always hurt vampires!" but what if you're a vampire in like 200 BC. Jesus hasn't been born yet, let alone nailed to some wood and become a symbol for a whole religion. You don't know what a crucifix IS, so why would it hurt you?
Did they always hurt? That's weird. Romans had been crucifying people for a while before they got around to Jesus, so that must have been confusing for vampires. This one type of execution hurts you at a distance? Weird.

Everyone thinks it's cool when someone says they're an angel but then they get annoyed when I say it and mean Ramiel
"foone you can't be an angel"

I want a spinoff series that's just 7 episodes of Ramiel blowing stuff up and hovering menacingly

Do you see what's wrong here?
No, not that I'm trying to get dial up in the year of our gourd 2022, look closer.
56k modems are asymmetric!
V.90 provides for 56kbps* download but only 33.6kbps upload.
And if they're using v.92, that's still asymmetric and they are only getting 48kbps upload!
*: Your 56kbps modem is probably software limited to 53.3kbps.
This happens because of FCC rules, and some modems let you disable it and get the extra 2.7kbits at your own peril.

I proposed to NASA that all astronauts on the International Space Station should be taught a form of resurrected Pronto-Indo-European, so instead of mixed English and Russia they'd be using a shared tongue that both languages had evolved from.
They rejected the proposal, though.
Said it was just a PIE in the Sky project
Also several people have said this is inspired by today's xkcd.
How dare you? The last time I was inspired by an xkcd it resulted in a new board on 4chan.

This was, in fact, inspired by "don't you love the color of the sky?" horse plinko.

do you ever have to stop yourself from quitting playing a game in order to write a program to help you cheat at it, or are you not a programmer with ADHD?
so this is an event in Inscryption. I have to pick one of these three challenges, where I draw 3 cards and see if they have:
1: At least 3 sigils
2. at least 2 are kin
3. at least 4 damage
and the thing is, you have to think about your deck and guess at which one you'd be most likely to win.

OR you could have a computer program examine your deck and figure out the exact probabilities for you!

I go to my HMO website, and look up the thing I need info on. it says I need a referral, and to call their help line.
I call the help line, and it says they're super busy because pandemic, so if I'm calling about the thing, just go to their site.
the site which tells me to call
the best part?
the website that says to call them ALSO SAYS that in response to calling them, they'll send you a message on the website
the website literally says "if you want to do X, call us at 555-1234"
and then you call and it says "hey we're too busy to answer the phone. if you're calling about X, go do it on the website instead"
