Sixth death anniversary of Lt Gen Jack Farj Rafael Jacob, PVSM.
The #IndianBrave veteran passed away #OnThisDay 13 Jan in 2016, aged 92
Remembering his service to the Nation during #IndoPakWar1971

Gen Jacob was also celebrated in Israel, where his uniform hangs in the Israeli military museum. He is featured in John Colvin’s book on Jewish military heroes, Lions of Judah. Jacob was an advocate of strong India-Israel relations.
But he rejected all offers to move to Israel.

“I am proud to be a Jew, but am Indian through and through. I was born in India and served her my whole life. This is where I want to die,” he once said

I sometimes wonder how he convinced Niazi and what would he be thinking in those 30 minutes which he gave to Niazi
Would give anything in this world to hear that conversation in person

His autobiography "An Odyssey in War and Peace" till date remains one my favourites

1/n First day at India Squadron,
I enter the squadron building from Battalion Area side.
First thing I see is Major Mohit Sharma's Portrait in Nair lobby
Stared at it for few minutes , checking it out and awe struck by his chest filled by medals and badges.

2/n Seargent accompanying me noticed this and said
"Ain't he amazing"
I said ,"What sir"
The Seargent replied ,"His eyes,full of resolute and smile ,so infectious".
In the coming days ,I realised his importance and presence in the squadron

3/n He was running X-country with all of us , motivating us thru out the route,to give our best for our squadron and not give up.
He was there with us while we represented our squadron in various games, pushing us to our limits.
Josh pushups dedicated to him was an usual thing.

Quite an innocent face yeah?

Let me narrate you the story of his deadly back to back ops in darkest valley!

On 20-21 Sep he was involved in Op Shok Baba alongwith 14 RR in a Cordon and Search Operation, where 5-6 terrorists were entrapped in a house at village Shok Baba.

Despite firing heavy calibre weapons and grenades, the terrorists remained protected in the mud house/ cow shed. At this juncture, as Rana and team volunteered to approach the cow shed with a heavy IED to destroy it.

As a heavy volume of fire was unleashed by the balance MARCOS, he quickly manoeuvred and placed the IED at the cow shed. The cow shed was blown up by the IED and three terrorists inside were eliminated.

In Op Danna, he as buddy of Lt Cdr Mahesh Kumar, shot dead one terrorist
