30 days of @THORChain : Day 2 - THORchain overview

Thread subject : what is THORchain and what does it do?

@THORChain is the first multichain DEX. It allows for permissionless swaps of digital assets. Every major blockchain will be covered.

At the moment the chains integrated are : $btc $eth $bnb $bch $ltc

In the next 3 weeks, $doge and $luna / $ust are going to be integrated.

After that, the goal is a new chain every 2-3 weeks.

30 days of @THORChain : Day 1, the introduction

Thread subject : which building blocks that are absolutely NECESSARY in order to have a decentralized monetary system

In early 2020, after years investing in crypto, it dawn to me that separating money from government was a very important undertaking.

I decided this was where I could have the most positive impact in the future. It also stands to be very lucrative for everyone involved.

I made it my life mission.

I analyzed the proprieties required to have a functioning ecosystem :
- Censorship resistant to bad actors and regulatory attacks
- Trustless
- Permissionless access to liquidity

Why $ust depeg is unlikely to happen and why $luna/$ust is different from other algo stables.

Algo stables historically depeg when there is not enough buy side liquidity during a moment of great volatility. It's mostly during liquidations.

The solution is simple : you need to create mechanisms that create deep continuous buy side for $ust and $luna.

It stops the falling knives of liquidations and removes creates a volatility cushion.

Here are the solutions in place or on the way to be shipped :

IDOs directly on Thorchain created a problem : Big liquidity pools were taking a lot of cap space compared to the token's market cap. Theses liquidity pools were not producing enough fees naturally.
While ecosystem tokens are necessary to create incentives for teams building on top of @THORChain , the usage to cap ratio of theses pools were low. They weren't organically generating enough revenues for node operators and LPs.
The Thorswap team did a 140 IQ move : They re-aligned the incentives for people to take money out of the LP and stake it into single side. The single side pool will also become governance for the protocol.

This is the best outcome we could hope for.

I have been saying it for a long time.

Utility ≠ Value capture

People think because something is useful it will be worth a lot.

Utility companies and grocery stores are arguably the most important businesses in your life.
Kroger (biggest grocery store) trades at 0.18x revenues.

Meanwhile, SAAS software companies trade at 16.6x. That’s 9200% higher.

When I analyze a crypto project, I always look at value capture.
The two projects where I found the highest capture were $luna and $rune

Luna has all of the value capture of an L1 token (eth, sol etc) because it’s a smart chain. On top of it it has a mint and burn feature that will create 100+bn in market cap as $ust adoption widens
