The Adi Shakti that controls the universe…..

This is a small mandir with two sannidhis- Lalitha maha Tripurasundari and Nagavalli Amman.
Legend says that some years back, few children who were playing, spotted a Cobra and ran away.
They, later, came back and constructed a small murti of Ma and named her Nagavalli Amman.
One day, Ma Adishakti came in the dream of some villagers and told that she wanted to reside here in her Karunamayi Roopa.

She directed how her moola swaroopam should look like and the Sthapati made the moola vigraham exactly as per her wish and the murti was installed here.

No one can harm the one who is protected by Narayana himself….

The Yoga Narsimha mandir has the murti of Narasimha in a seated position with the Yogapatta.

This is considered as one of the seven holy centres devoted to Narasimha.
The mandir is on a hill at a height of 1777 m above sea level.
The murti is said to have been installed by Prahlada, son of Hiranyakashipu, himself.

Beneath the mandir, there is a small cave where Prahlada is said to have meditated when he brought the murti.

Narasimha is in yogic posture wearing Chalakkrama with Sun and Moon at his feet.

He who blesses his Bhakta with a worthy child…..

Bhadravati was ruled by King Suketumaan. He and his wife Shaibya were unhappy as they did not have a son.
One day, out of depression, the King rode off on his horse without informing Shaibya.
By midday, he started feeling thirsty and hungry.
Wandering in the forest, he saw a pond with blooming Lilies and Rishi Ashrams near it.
He saw some Rishis who were reciting mantras.
They identified themselves as the ten Vishvadevas and advised the King to follow Putrada Ekadashi fast to appease Sri Vishnu.

He who is always present in the service of Sri Ram…..

The Mandir has a rare Vigraha of Hanuman carrying Sri Ram on his shoulder while Prabhu fought with Ravana.
This image, sculpted on a rock, was in open space earlier.
Bayalu means open space in Kannada, hence Anjaneya came to be known as Bayalu Anjaneya.
There is a demon also near the feet of Sri Anjaneya.
Legend is that the demon crawled unto his feet to pull and imbalance him so that Sri Ram would fall.

When he caught the feet of Sri Hanuman, he felt his divinity and his intention changed. He was transformed into a Bhakta.

He who is adorned by the crown of moon….

Shiv Mahapurana says that Chandra Dev married 27 daughters of Daksha Prajapati but loved Rohini the most. Due to this, all other wives were unhappy.
Angry Daksha cursed Him to suffer from skin disease.
Then, Chandra did penance in this Prabhas Kshetra to please Shiva.
Shiva gave Chandra a boon that He would lose one Kala (shade) every day and decrease in size for 15 days only to grow back in next 15 days.

Shiva stayed here and came to be called Somnath.

It is believed that one can wash away sins by bathing in the Someshwar Kund here.

She who keeps her Bhaktas in her loving care….

Legend is that Somanna Shetty, a great Bhakta of Devi, brought this murti from Badami’s Banshankari Amma Kshetra.

Many years ago, three ladies visited this mandir and requested the pujari to conduct puja for them.
Since it was the inauspicious rahu kaal, the pujari refused.
However, upon their insistence, he conducted the puja.

When he returned with prasadam, the ladies had already vanished.

This made the people believe that they were none other than the Devi herself. Since then, the people perform poojas here during the Rahukaal.

He who is known as Karnik (wish-fulfilling) Hanumantha…..

This mandir is closely associated with Venkataramana Mandir. Before starting any auspicious work, a prayer is offered to Venkataramana and Hanumantha.

Visit to one is incomplete without a visit to the other. Hanuman is the Mukhyaprana while Venkataramana is the Sarvaprana.
Once the Archaka (pujari) found that there were no tender coconuts left to offer to Hanumantha.
The labourer from nearby coconut farm refused to give coconuts without his master’s permission.

When the Archaka left the farm empty-handed, the coconut tree caught fire.
