BREAKING: On day after @kyrstensinema’s infamous speech defending the filibuster, 70+ Arizona Democratic women leaders release this open letter calling on @emilyslist—Sinema’s #1 contributor—to “immediately make a public demand to Senator Sinema to support ending the filibuster.”
Signers include former city councilmembers and current members of the Arizona Democratic Party executive committee.
The letter, organized through the Arizona Coalition to End the Filibuster, challenges one of the most influential Democratic organizations that still backs Sinema.
@emilyslist responds and says they “will be unable to endorse” @kyrstensinema if she won’t reverse course on reforming filibuster to pass voting rights legislation.
Thank you to the 70+ Arizona Democratic women who demanded this action & all who joined them.
NEW: On eve of Trump’s inauguration, over 200 Arizona Democrats including many state and local elected officials release this letter opposing @RubenGallego, @SenMarkKelly, @gregstantonaz & Gov. @katiehobbs’ support of the Laken Reilly Act and calling to resist mass deportation.
Signers include a majority of Democratic state legislators, several city council members/-elect, a mayor, a former state party chair, school board members, county party chairs, state party vice chairs, many state committee members, and prominent faith and community leaders.

NEW: A coalition of Arizona Palestinian, Arab, Muslim, and progressive community leaders issue statement on the presidential election.
"In our view... allowing the fascist Donald Trump to become President again would be the worst possible outcome for the Palestinian people."
Please read the statement in full before commenting. You can read it, see the full list of signers, and add your name in support here: bit.ly/AZ-PAM
As the statement says, "We know that some will strongly disagree. We only ask that you consider our case with an open mind and heart, respecting that we are doing what we believe is right in an awful situation where only flawed choices are available."
BREAKING: By an overwhelming vote, the Arizona Democratic Party just passed a resolution calling on Democrats nationwide — from grassroots activists to party leaders — to pledge to support the winner of the Democratic primary to replace Kyrsten Sinema.
Sinema must go.
This was a great team effort by many AZ Dem Party leaders organized together in the AZ Coalition to End the Filibuster & the Progressive and Labor councils of the ADP. 71% in favor. Thank you @Serrano4CUSD, @OldGringoAz, @PaulForArizona, @AnnHeitland, @BWestbrookAZ8 & many more!
Every poll shows that there’s no realistic re-election path for Sinema. But she is a real threat as a spoiler who could help an extremist MAGA Republican win. It’s time for national Democrats to join with Arizona Dems to ensure that doesn’t happen by uniting to back our nominee.
BREAKING: Just now, several women interrupted oral arguments inside the Supreme Court chamber to denounce Dobbs decision that repealed Roe v Wade! SCOTUS cut off livestream. One woman says “We will restore our freedom to choose! Women of America—Vote!” RT if you stand with them!
UPDATE: The 3 women who peacefully interrupted Supreme Court arguments today to denounce Dobbs and call on women to vote to restore choice are being held in jail + charged w/ misdemeanors.
BREAKING: West Virginia faith leaders & citizens are shutting down MLK Way in our state capitol. As King family have said––No #MLKDay celebration without legislation. We're making Good Trouble to tell Joe Manchin: fix the filibuster + pass the John Lewis Freedom to Vote Act now!
As President Biden said, the GOP assault on voting rights & fair elections is the greatest threat to our democracy since the Civil War. Manchin himself said “inaction is not an option.” We are nonviolently disrupting business as usual to say the Senate cannot wait any longer.
While Manchin emulates the freedom-obstructing error of the white moderates King decried as "more devoted to ‘order’ than to justice,” I & others here aim to follow the white people who joined MLK in nonviolent struggle––some even giving their lives––to realize justice for all.
.@KyrstenSinema claims the filibuster "protects the democracy of our nation."
Today 4 of Arizona's leading constitutional law experts disagreed in this powerful letter calling on Sinema to reform the filibuster to protect voting rights and our Constitution.
To be clear, while I welcome this letter, I reject the call for a carve-out on voting rights or any other sole issue. The filibuster must be abolished or reformed to allow passage of any legislation -- from the Dream Act to the Pro Act, the LGBTQ Equality Act, and so much more.
