Across NSW, 95.2 per cent of people aged 16 and over have received a first dose of a COVID-19 vaccine, and 93.8 per cent have received two doses to Thursday 13 January.
Of people aged 12 to 15, 82 per cent have received a first dose of COVID-19 vaccine, and 78.3 per cent have received two doses. Of people aged 5 to 11, 8.9 per cent have received a first dose of a COVID-19 vaccine.
The total number of vaccines administered in NSW is now 14,501,107 with 4,579,877 administered by NSW Health to 8pm last night and 9,921,230 administered by the GP network, pharmacies and other providers to 11.59pm on Thursday 13 January 2022.
We encourage everyone who is eligible to receive a vaccination or their booster dose to book into a NSW Health vaccination clinic or another provider without delay through the COVID-19 vaccine clinic finder: covid-vaccine.healthdirect.gov.au/booking/
Sadly, we are today reporting the deaths of 20 people with COVID-19; 11 men and nine women.
One person was aged in their 20s, three people were aged in their 50s, one person was aged in their 60s, four people were in their 70s, nine people were in their 80s and two people were in their 90s.
Of the 20 people who died; 16 people were vaccinated against COVID-19 and four people were not vaccinated.
Seven people were from south-western Sydney, four people were from western Sydney, three people were from south eastern Sydney, two people were from the Wollongong area, two people were from the Riverina, -
- one person was from Sydney’s Inner West and one person was from the Mid North Coast.
A man in his 20s died at Albury Base Hospital. He had received two doses of a COVID-19 vaccine and had serious underlying health conditions.
We express our sincere condolences to their loved ones. This brings the total number of COVID-19 related deaths in NSW since the beginning of the pandemic to 848.
There are currently 2,576 COVID-19 cases admitted to hospital, including 193 people in intensive care, 58 of whom require ventilation.
There were 48,768 positive test results (cases) notified to 8pm last night – including 21,748 positive rapid antigen tests (RATs) and 27,020 positive PCR tests.
Of the 21,748 positive RAT results, 15,925 of these positive tests were from the previous seven days.
Please note there may be some cases included in these numbers where people have reported positive RATs on multiple days and/or where people have also had a positive PCR test during the same reporting period.
The 27,020 positive PCR results were returned from 82,581 PCR tests. 104 COVID-19 cases detected by PCR tests have been excluded following further investigation, bringing the total number of cases detected by PCR tests in NSW since the beginning of the pandemic to 617,525.
Of the 27,020 cases reported from PCR tests to 8pm last night, 5,143 are from South Western Sydney Local Health District (LHD), 3,805 are from Western Sydney LHD, 3,072 are from South Eastern Sydney LHD, 2,483 are from Northern Sydney LHD, 2,334 are from Hunter New England LHD, -
- 2,196 are from Illawarra Shoalhaven LHD, 2,013 are from Sydney LHD, 1,221 are from Nepean Blue Mountains LHD, 1,166 are from Central Coast LHD, 839 are from Murrumbidgee LHD, 687 are from Western NSW LHD, 633 are from Northern NSW LHD, 553 are from Southern NSW LHD, -
- 332 are from Mid North Coast LHD, 25 are from Far West LHD, 41 are in correctional settings, and 477 are yet to be assigned to an LHD.
