Gvt response is disingenuous. But they’ve now said in the House that they won’t stop us protesting in Parliament Sq. We can test their honesty by organising a peaceful demo.

This is a small victory of great consequence. The right to protest outside parliament lives on for another day. Now it’s on the MPs to do the right thing when bill goes back to Commons.

Remember, this government is pushing through SEVERAL bills that are very authoritarian.

They are each at different stages. Some are in the Lords, others back in the Commons.

Three of the most concerning are:

1. Police, Crime, Sentencing and Courts Bill (going back to HoC)
2. The Elections Bill (going back to HoL)
3. The Nationality and Borders Bill (Cttee stage in HoL)
Last night, the Gvt was roundly defeated by the Lords on the PCSC Bill (#PolicingBill). This Bill now goes back to the HoC where we hope MPs will listen and accept the HoL amendments.

The @BestForBritain amndmt to protect right of protest in Parliament Sq was one of those.

If you’re a liberal, if you believe in equal votes that creates a more plural parliamentary makeup, if you advocate for minority rights, how can you justify becoming such an anti pluralist at election time?

Tribalists in political parties are holding back democracy 😔
Every day that goes by that opposition parties choose to fight rather than forge alliances, is a day that people are failed by them.
The Brexit deal is crippling businesses now. The cost of living crisis is making children hungry now. The lack of action on climate change is causing irreversible damage now.

Being tribal rather than plural, is hurting people and the planet right now.
