@dickiebush is a prolific creator and has created a massively successful online business @ship30for30.
So, I learned the ways he went doing the same from his interview on the @gumroad podcast.
Here are my 10 takeaways from the podcast 🧵👇
Lesson #1: Curate your feed 🗳️
Places that you come often to learn are an asset and you should mindfully curate it.
Poorly curating your feed will result in either learning the things that serve no purpose to you or you completely ignoring the feed.
Lesson #2: Don't let your notes go in vein 🗑
First of all, you should make your own notes when you are learning something and add your own thoughts and views to it.
Second, don't just throw those notes in your closet. Create on what your curate. Act on them.
Lesson #3: If you are a creator, build credibility 🙌
Why should someone learn from you? There are two ways to make someone believe in you at first:-
✅ Curating experts
✅ Being ultra-specific
Example #1: Curating experts 🧑🎨
You can take the example of this thread,
You are reading this thread because you probably know Dickie Bush.
So, now I'm borrowing his credibility, and if you go off learning something from this thread you build some credibility on me.
Example #2: Being ultra-specific ✴️
"I'm a student studying computer science at MIT and here are the 10 things you should take care of before applying to MIT."
This statement is ultra-specific and If you have ever wished to apply to MIT, you are probably going to read this.
Lesson #4: Talk about things that you want to learn in the next 2 years 🗣️
Write about things as you learn about them.
So, the things that you are interested in right now and you think that you are going to be interested in it in the next 2 years.
Lesson #5: Talk about things that you've learned in the past 2 years 🗝️
Write about the lessons that you've learned doing things that you love.
What you could have done better, and what others can do to improve their journies.
Lesson #6: Surround yourself with people who you can learn from 🤝
You should surround yourself with people who you can always learn about the things that you want to be good at.
This could be in the form of a single person or community.
Lesson #7: Enable others 🤗
Think about how you can truly help others and how others can get benefited from it.
Trying to improve other people's journeys will also help you improve your journey.
Lesson #8: You get more time when you are doing more than doing less ⏲️
A state, a routine where I'm doing more but still doing better than what I achieve just doing one thing.
You may realize something similar with yourself if you try to time your routine. Here's an activity👇
Estimate the time you spend doing your usual work and see how much time is left in a day.
I bet that the time that is actually left free is much less than what you estimated.
This is because we waste too much of our time doing random things.
Lesson #9: Make your side hustle complementary not additional work 🏋️♂️
Your hustle should not feel like work.
"You cannot work on one thing 16 hours but you can work 8 hours each on two different things." — Dickie Bush
Lesson #10: Have a good information diet 🥗
"The time you'll invest in improving your information diet will be one the biggest differentiators over the next 2-5 years." — Dickie Bush
Put the time into curating the feed and have a good information diet.
TLDR 1;
🗳️ Curate your feed
