NEW: We obtained new documents that shine a light on Wisconsin officials’ ongoing efforts to cast doubt on the results of the 2020 election, including attacks on the bipartisan Wisconsin Elections Commission.

The records contain communications sent to state Rep. Janel Brandtjen, who has falsely claimed that Donald Trump won in Wisconsin in 2020, by Erick Kaardal, the election-denying lawyer whose law firm is leasing office space from Michael Gableman’s partisan investigation.
Other documents include emails received by state Rep. Joe Sanfelippo’s office about how to potentially remove members and staff of the bipartisan Wisconsin Elections Commission.
The communications also reveal WEC frustration with the Legislative Audit Bureau’s lack of transparency as the bureau conducted a separate election audit in 2021.

Last week, fake Trump electoral certificates we obtained drew renewed scrutiny after @maddow reported on the documents.

Now, several states are considering or have started investigations into the efforts to create the fake certificates. THREAD
New Mexico Attorney General Hector Balderas referred the issue to federal law enforcement and review under state law is ongoing.

Last summer, the federal immigration court in San Francisco started fast-tracking hearings for immigrants whose mail was undeliverable.

Records we obtained show judges celebrated that this process resulted in a high percentage of absentia deportations.

The records, reported on by @TalKopan at the @sfchronicle, also show Judge Daren Margolin, appointed by the Trump administration, greenlighted creating a subset of hearings specifically for immigrants whose mail was undeliverable. They were scheduled for June 15, 2021. Image
Scott McDaniel, the deputy court administrator at the San Francisco Immigration Court, reported the results of these hearings: 17 of the 21 cases reported in absentia deportations. McDaniel told judges interested in creating a similar process to contact him.

Rudy Giuliani oversaw the effort to use fake “election certificates” to overturn the results of the 2020 election, according to new reporting by the @washingtonpost. Other Trump campaign officials reportedly assisted.

he Trump campaign reportedly “scrambled” to gain access to state capitol buildings and to disseminate draft language for the phony certificates that were later submitted to Congress.

We uncovered an invitation to an “Election Integrity Call” on July 3. Invitees included prominent supporters of the Big Lie: John Eastman (the lawyer who wrote a memo saying VP Pence could reject Joe Biden’s victory), Mike Flynn, and attorney Lin Wood.

BREAKING: An Arizona judge has ordered Cyber Ninjas CEO Doug Logan to appear for a deposition scheduled for Jan. 27 in our lawsuit for election “audit” records.

The judge also ordered Cyber Ninjas and Logan to pay $1,000 as a penalty for Logan’s failure to show up earlier this month for a scheduled deposition.

The order warned that failure to appear on Jan. 27 could result in sanctions and potentially a civil arrest warrant.
This comes amid increasing concerns that Logan and Cyber Ninjas may be failing to preserve records from the partisan review. The Arizona Senate is legally obligated to preserve records from the “audit,” including those held by its contractor, Cyber Ninjas.

NEW: Wisconsin taxpayers paid $63,510.31 in December for the staff working on the state’s partisan election review, records we obtained show.

The documents also show the office hired two new people in December, for a total of ten employees.

In November, the Wisconsin Office of Special Counsel, led by Michael Gableman,employed eight people and spent $47,674 on salaries. In September, it had five people on payroll with a total salary budget of $28,250.

The budget for Gableman’s investigation has been growing each month, and the investigation is now projected to go past February. Taxpayers are paying Michael Gableman himself $11,000 a month.
