This is what Pu'uloa (Pearl Harbor) looks like after the @USNavy flushed millions of gallons of water through their fuel-contaminated water lines out into the sea in an effort to clear the pipes. #shutdownredhill
This is what the same water looked like in June of 2021, several months before the catastrophic leak from the Navy’s Red Hill fuel facility in late-November that was the most likely cause of water contamination that poisoned thousands of people on O'ahu.
The US Military has described this as an "iterative" process that will likely continue until all their water tests come up "clean". They initially flushed UNTREATED water in direct defiance of Department of Health orders. Now it's presumably being treated.
The brown trails could be the result of something not directly related to flushing - but there may be traces of fuel in the trails. What we do know for sure: through this entire process the Navy has been anything but transparent about the flushing process.
For example, here’s Commanding Officer “Gordie” Meyer of @NAVFAC appearing to perjure himself multiple times in the span of a few minutes while being questioned about the unpermitted flushing in early December during the Department of Health Evidentiary Hearings on Red Hill.

It’s time to set the record straight: the US Military is the "greatest purveyor of violence in the world today".

The @USNavy wants desperately to whitewash and co-opt Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.’s legacy for their own agenda. We cannot and will not allow them to do that.
What the @USNavy, @SecDef, @SECNAV, and @USNavyCNO don’t want you to know about MLK was that in addition to being a Civil Rights leader, he was also a socialist and anti-imperialist. ImageImageImage
It is particularly egregious for the Navy to invoke Dr. King’s name on all their social media platforms whilst continuing to prioritize imperialist interests over the people of O‘ahu, whose water they contaminated with toxic fuel from their corroding fuel tanks on Red Hill. ImageImage

Reminder that the events leading to the Red Hill fuel contamination crisis flows directly through the history of the @cochawaii Military Affairs Council’s stonewalling in the state legislature.#ShutDownRedHill #ShutDownChamberofCommerce
More on the history of the @cochawaii’s history of complicity in making the the Red Hill fuel contamination crisis all but inevitable here:
The @BWSHonolulu should cancel this @cochawaii-hosted “informational briefing”. The Chamber of Commerce should have nothing to do with informing people on the crisis, and they should have nothing to do with how we as a community proceed with respect to the Red Hill fuel facility.

HAPPENING NOW
HASC Subcommittee on Readiness Hearing: “Red Hill Bulk Fuel Storage Facility: The Current Crisis, the Response, and the Way Forward”
armedservices.house.gov/2022/1/subcomm…
From the get, it's immediately clear through Admiral Converse's testimony that their plan is to "remediate" the Red Hill facility in order to "bring it back online". They have zero intention to #ShutDownRedHill.
It's also becoming increasingly clear, as we suspected, that the recent report to beltway media that later trickled in to local media news outlets was a direct message to the House Armed Services Committee in the lead up to this Subcommittee Hearing washingtonpost.com/national-secur…

🚨BREAKING🚨 The U.S. Navy confirmed it will comply with the Department of Health order to turn in a plan within 30 days outlining how they plan to REMOVE the hundreds of millions of gallons of fuel still stored in the Red Hill facility!

khon2.com/local-news/nav…
THIS ISN'T OVER - not by a long shot. The @USNavy will likely continue to drag their feet on defueling AND will try to "fix" the Red Hill Facility. As we know, the entire Red Hill fuel storage system is beyond repair. We will continue to demand they permanently #ShutDownRedHill
Mahalo to everyone around the world who contributed your voices and your mana to this growing movement to protect water. We still need you. The US Military and the ruling class will use this moment to try to lull us into complacency. For wai's sake, we can't allow that to happen.

The following is a message from Aedyn Rhys-King, kanaka maoli veteran and resident of Kapilina Beach Homes whose family was poisoned from bathing in and ingesting water contaminated by the Navy’s leaking Red Hill facility. #ShutDownRedHill Image
“Water is the driving force of all nature. Our water in Hawai‘i has been poisoned by the U.S. Navy’s Red Hill fuel tanks over and over again! My ‘ohana along with so many others have been poisoned by the Navy’s negligence. They are not helping us. They have lied to us.“ ImageImage
“They have left us to fend for ourselves. They have said our water is “safe and unaffected”. In the beginning, they told us our water was NOT on Navy water lines. Many of us trusted that and continued to use the water. We continued to be poisoned. We continued to get sick.⁣” ImageImageImageImage

BREAKING: The Military is flushing "treated" water from fuel-contaminated pipes straight into an open drain in Kapilina Beach Homes civilian housing. The length of the drain snakes through civilian housing completely unsupervised. Any child who can't read could play in it. 🧵
The drain is sending the "treated" water straight out into the Kapilina lagoon - that of course empties out directly into the sea. If the water is safe after being run through this system, why do these hastily-made signs warn to "AVOID CONTACT WITH WATER"?
This is absolutely egregious but we should expect nothing less from the US Navy. The Commission on Water Resource Management must rescind the Navy's water permit and demand the Navy #ShutDownRedHill, stop this toxic flushing, and pay to replace all the pipes they contaminated.
