Let's talk about #BobaFett I'm seeing lots of stuff about how @disneyplus has "destroyed" this badass character and I'm confused. Now I'm not a @StarWarsUK expert but I've watch the films and cartoons and series so I'm reasonably up to date on it all.
Now. On Boba's first appearance he got his hands on Solo on Ice, more by luck than through any badassery. He then gave Solo to Jabba and went to Jabbas yacht party. He was no help against Luke, Leia et Al when they rescue Solo and accidently ended up in a sarlac's stomach.
So that was his movie appearances apart from the prequels where he sees his dad get killed.
In the animated series we see a pissed off kid with a problem with Obi Wan. He talks a big game but generally has another bounty hunter behind him pushing him on. Mostly though he's a clever and unhappy orphan kid being used by others. So far a 3D character but
Not a badass. More a stroppy teen with some dodgy mates. So we come to #TheBookOfBobaFett Boba burns his way out of the Sarlac and somehow digs his way through several meters of sand. He is found by Jawas who strip him of his armour and leave him to die.
He survives that, is captured by the Sandpeople, survives their harsh treatment while acting with dignity himself. He takes everything that happens to him with a stoic calm. He has some soft spots, for eye who can fight and for kids, perhaps because of his own childhood, and for
Animals. He rescues Fenic Shand while in pursuit of vengeance against the gang who murdered his sand people tribe. When he is able he wipes said gang off the face of the planet without a second thought.
He seeks and values loyalty and has nothing but contempt for those who don't. As far as I can see the writers have taken an over rated, one dimensional character and imbued him with three dimensions and shown what real badassery is about... of course that's just in my opinion.
