Sadly, I’m realizing that after 1/6 and a President who tried everything to undermind our democracy, most Americans can’t fathom that Russia, an external threat, is just as dangerous (if not more) to our way of life. You don’t defeat Russia in court or with sanctions.
We treat Putin as if we can shame or reason him into negotiation. It’s an absurd idea. Putin has every reason to seize an opportunity of a week and fragmented west. The US is fighting domestically, and NATO and our allies are unwilling to confront Putin.
I’ve dealt with the Soviet KGB and then the Russian GRU, they have waited a long time to make a move like this. You’re not going to role back their intent to knock us out of Eastern Europe w a bilateral talk. They also won’t stop w just Ukraine. They want NATO & the us out.
* pardon the typos. But I’ve spent a great deal of my adult life seeing what the Russian military is willing to do inside the US, and it’s painful to watch us not taking them seriously.

For 3 years I worked undercover face-to-face against the second most senior GRU intelligence officer in the US. Here is what I learned about Russia and the GRU. A thread. Image
First for Russia the Cold War never ended. The minute any Russia intelligence officer (IO) got off that plane in JFK, they acted as if they were in enemy territory.
My time with the Russians actually started in the late 1980’s when the KGB began doing business with my dad. Since the first meeting my family fed everything to the FBI. The KGB was replaced by the GRU. So what’s the difference between the KGB and the GRU? Not much.

For 3 years I watched as Russian military intelligence (GRU) tried to recruit me bc they believed one day I would be a U.S. Navy intelligence officer. It is completely believable the Russians would’ve attempted to do the same here with Cawthorn. A thread
Recruitment of a spy is a long term effort, and Russia is a master of this. 1st step is to find a way to make contact and develop a relationship. The process is slow and tedious, and the Russians are extremely patient. Lastly, few efforts are successful, they cast a wide net.
My recruitment was conducted by a senior GRU intelligence officer. Since my operation I have seen a significant shift by the Russians to use “throw-away” agents who are not affiliated intelligence officers to conduct initial contact. This poses a lower risk of attribution.

Deputy Julio Alvarado seen here slamming 4-foot-8, about 100 pounds Shantel Arnold, who is missing her left eye, has been named in *NINE* fed suits accusing him of using excessive force.NINE! And he’s still a cop.
Two suits were settled, one of them involving the beating of a **14-year-old boy**, and two are pending, with the remaining dismissed. Yet, he has remained employed as a police officer! Gun and badge!!!
Back to Arnold, what was her transgression? Well apparently it was refusing to speak to Alvarado. Furthermore after using such force, surely she was charged for SOMETHING? Nope. Zero charges. But she was assaulted so badly that she required treatment in the hospital.

Lol. This trooper retired, he wasn’t fired.
He leaves with a pension and all his benefits. He voluntarily chose to retire. What bullshit these people spout.
He stands by his convictions…to collect a pension and healthcare for life — thank goodness for socialism for this trooper!!

The “umbrella man” who was seen on video in Minneapolis smashing store windows with a sledgehammer and encouraging people to steal, has been identified as a person associated with the Aryan Cowboys — a white supremacist prison and street gang. abcnews.go.com/US/man-helped-…
Police did not reveal exactly how they corroborated the tip, but they said the man also was present during "an incident in Stillwater Minnesota where a Muslim woman was racially harassed by a group of motorcycle club members wearing Aryan Cowboy leather vests."
His actions transformed peaceful protests into danger zones, the affidavit said. He's also accused of spray painting "free s--- for everyone zone" on the doors of an AutoZone before he smashed in the windows. The store was broken into and set on fire, the affidavit said.

Spies don’t just work for the Russians or Chinese, sometimes they work offer to work for our allies too. As Jonathan Pollard did for Israel. washingtonpost.com/national-secur…
That the FBI somehow got access to this offer to spy, makes me think this was a friendly country, who turned this over to the FBI. Additionally, Americans incorrectly assume espionage will be looked on less harshly if they’re helping an ally.
Just speculating, as I have no inside info. But I do know this game intimately, and I can see an American believing they aren’t betraying their country by helping an ally.
