Learning SQL can be very interesting if you are just watching video but nay, watching video or reading SQL Blog doesn't take you anywhere.
Structure your learning and practice in this form 1. Basic SQL: select, filter using where, like, in, etc... #SQLOnBirdApp
2. SQL Joins: focus on learning how to combine data from multiple tables.
I will recommend you learn Set theory and try to solve set questions with 3 subjects involved. It really break down the whole logic and possible relationships.
4. SQL SubQueries & Temporary Tables
SubQuery can be complex and difficult to understand but if you see the entire output as a table and picture every Subquery as a table that needs to be brought together to get a single table, you might just have an easy ride #SQLOnBirdApp
5. Data Cleaning in SQL
Leveraging on what you've learnt from 1-4 above, you can combine this to clean data better, converting and transforming Date Value, Missing Data analysis, etc..
6. Now moving to the advance stage "SQL Windows Functions"
Windows Functions allow you to compare one row to another without doing any joins. This concept is powerful.
7. Advanced SQL JOINs and Query Performance Tuning
Writing Optimal queries is powerful.
This is what different interview test cases are testing.
Beyond having a query that runs successfully, it will be exposed to several use cases to validate if it's optimal. #SQLOnBirdApp
I will recommend you check your knowledge for the above listed areas and make sure you understand and can defend them one by one.
You can know where to better focus when addressing your learning needs.
I cannot overemphasized PRACTICING.
you need to practice everyday if possible
