As many already know, my father left us Friday evening after a brief, but aggressive battle with cancer. Our hearts are shattered. 💔
To so many he was known as a fierce hockey player who was part of hockey history, but to us, he was a man who devoted his life to taking care of
his family, his friends, and his community. He was so kind, so generous, so funny. He lit up every room with a joke or a story, and his ear to ear grin was as contagious as they come. He had the ability to you make you feel so important and always without judgment.
His happiest days were spent sitting by the pool after a summer morning of golf, watching his grandkids splash and play, and even joining in with a belly flop from time to time. Barbecuing the most perfect steak for us, or even better, the most perfect pork chop.
He deeply loved his wife, his family, his countless friends and he also loved his work. He just loved life. Always looking forward to the next thing. He wanted to fight this, so badly, but life had other plans.
I am so sad for myself, my sweet babies who don’t get to grow up with their Grandpa, my sisters, and especially my mom, who has to learn how to live life without her best friend.
We will make sure that his legacy will live on through our children… teaching them that kindness matters and that there is always the perfect snail joke for any occasion.
We love you with every ounce of our being, and we promise to take care of mom and we promise to never ever forget everything you are. A tremendous loss for us and for so many.
I have always been so proud of you, dad, and am so proud to be your daughter. I miss you. Rest peacefully. 💔
