I really miss having a 5-4 Supreme Court where one of the 5 was occasionally a swing vote. I miss the feeling of feeling like it was possible for a court case to result in a more just society. I miss not knowing the outcome. I miss feeling that layer of possible protection.

In any case, I am not being a doomer. Things could always get worse. And perhaps they could get better! Thomas may retire in the next decade. He could either be replaced w/ a much younger justice by a liberal president or a fascist one. We have to vote.
We also have to protect the lower courts. They were our only protection during the first 2 years of Trump's presidency. They didn't prevent damage in all cases, but, in many, they certainly slowed Trump down. Without these courts, he could have done more bad things much faster.
The first part of protecting the lower courts will be voting in 2022. After we lost in 2014, McConnell didn't just hold SCOTUS hostage, but slowed down ALL lower court appointments from 2015-2016, giving Trump & the GOP an almost unprecedented chance to shape the judiciary. 
One court which Trump had the chance to shape was the 5th Circuit, which has now become the most radical court in the country. Guess over which states the 5th Circuit presides? Texas and Mississippi. Is it a coincidence they are now passing restrictive abortion laws?
Here's what haunts me: Our losses in 2014 and 2016 both contributed to Roe's perilous state. In more concrete terms, there are pregnant people, including some children as young as 9, who are now being forced to give birth in Texas. This is a consequence of our not voting.
In any case, this is indeed a depressing situation. But it could get much, much worse. It could also get better! But only if we vote.

Finally, Roe is just the beginning. Lawrence v. Texas & Obergefell may be next. If you think it's impossible the GOP would go after them, imagine if, six years ago, you would have thought they'd be passing laws placing bounties on pregnant people & banning the teaching of racism.
If you care about a single woman, a single LGBTQ person, or a single POC, you will spend the next 9.5 months doing everything you can to get out the vote in November. You have to vote to protect them. You have to vote to mitigate harm. You have to vote for the courts.
We see the news now that Affirmative Action is going before SCOTUS & our first reaction is not, "Let's see how it turns out," but, rather, "Welp, that's probably gone." I do not want to have that feeling about Lawrence v. Texas. I do not want to have that feeling about Obergefell
