Today, an attorney for Speaker Robin Vos testified that he had done little to ensure Michael Gableman, the contractor in charge of Wisconsin’s partisan election investigation, had turned over all records that were responsive to our records requests. jsonline.com/story/news/pol…
We’ve asked the judge to hold Vos in contempt of court for his failure to produce records responsive to our public records requests. Today, the court held an evidentiary hearing to determine what had been done to comply with the order to release documents.
“I don’t believe I did anything,” Vos’s attorney said when asked what he did to ensure that no records were withheld. See more about today’s hearing from @sbauerAP. apnews.com/article/electi…
There's been a lot going on lately in our lawsuit for Arizona “audit” records, and even more coming up this week. Here’s a quick rundown of the recent highlights and things to watch:
First, an Arizona judge ordered Cyber Ninjas, the lead “audit” contractor, & its CEO Doug Logan to answer our questions under oath about the failure to turn over records. The court warned that if Logan fails to appear, he could face a civil arrest warrant. americanoversight.org/arizona-judge-…
Second, the Arizona Court of Appeals ruled last week that the state Senate must immediately turn over more than 1,000 documents related to the “audit” that don’t fall under a narrowly defined framework of legislative privilege. americanoversight.org/arizona-appeal…
NEW: A Wisconsin court is ordering Michael Gableman, the attorney leading Wisconsin’s partisan review of the 2020 election, to provide copies of records of the investigation to the court under seal within 10 days. americanoversight.org/wisconsin-judg…
We have filed open records requests for, and sued to release, documents from Wisconsin’s partisan election inquiry. Gableman’s office has confirmed that it has documents responsive to our requests but is refusing to release them.
Today, the court set a deadline of Jan. 31 for Gableman’s Office of Special Counsel to provide the records to the court, under seal, so that the judge can decide whether they should be released.
BREAKING: In our lawsuit for records related to the Arizona “audit,” the Arizona Court of Appeals ruled that the state Senate must immediately turn over more than 1,000 documents that don’t fall under a narrowly defined framework of legislative privilege. americanoversight.org/document/ameri…
The court ruled that the Arizona Senate cannot rely on legislative privilege for blanket withholding of documents. Any records they still want to withhold must be submitted for review by a judge who will determine if they need to be released.
This is a significant win in our lawsuit seeking answers about the sham “audit” in Maricopa County. It puts the public one step closer to getting the facts.

Last summer, the federal immigration court in San Francisco started fast-tracking hearings for immigrants whose mail was undeliverable.
Records we obtained show judges celebrated that this process resulted in a high percentage of absentia deportations. sfchronicle.com/politics/artic…
The records, reported on by @TalKopan at the @sfchronicle, also show Judge Daren Margolin, appointed by the Trump administration, greenlighted creating a subset of hearings specifically for immigrants whose mail was undeliverable. They were scheduled for June 15, 2021.
Scott McDaniel, the deputy court administrator at the San Francisco Immigration Court, reported the results of these hearings: 17 of the 21 cases reported in absentia deportations. McDaniel told judges interested in creating a similar process to contact him.
Rudy Giuliani oversaw the effort to use fake “election certificates” to overturn the results of the 2020 election, according to new reporting by the @washingtonpost. Other Trump campaign officials reportedly assisted. washingtonpost.com/investigations…
he Trump campaign reportedly “scrambled” to gain access to state capitol buildings and to disseminate draft language for the phony certificates that were later submitted to Congress.
The Washington Post reports that the Trump campaign also assisted the effort to find replacements for electors who were either unwilling or unable to participate. See the substitution forms here: americanoversight.org/american-overs…
