As a Lejac residential school survivor I stayed off social media yesterday knowing there was going to a report on St. Joseph's school unmarked graves.

Chrystos and I reminded our selves that our lives would be cut short like our relatives. That we would never live to see justice for genocide.
Yesterday more graves were confirmed. It was another punch to the gut. Rage has burned a hole in my soul.

I know I will never live long enough to see the catholic church and its criminals pay for what they did.
White supremacy is propping up the genocide deniers. On here, the hatred is everyday. Even presenting findings like yesterday's by Chief Sellars will be branded false.

Politicians will be posting their thoughts and prayers. Acidic and poisonous, as they are complicit in the genocide. Pretending to care by setting photo ops for the sharing of records for example.

Above all, remember all who survived plus the as yet unnamed. They were loved, missed, grieved in their relatives hearts. You will see new graphics with higher numbers. Each was more than a number. More than a statistic.

Dakelh had a different way of grieving. No time limits. I remember hearing an elder keening and crying as the evening sun set. As a kid asking my Mom if she was hurt. She said that this was a part of life.
