Netflix/Riot Games' #Arcane's plot sucks and I'll tell you some of the reasons why.
CONTAINS SPOILERS
1/n
- This kid Powder/Jinx has a great relationship with her sister. For an accident she kills all of her friends and her stepfather, trying to rescue him from the "bad" guy*. Because of the accident there is tension with her sister and so... she joins the bad guy? REALLY? 2/n
- the stepfather (Vander), who is depicted as a great responsible good-but-tought guy, was a literal snitch who made deals with the police to keep the people from revolting. Literally that kind of socialdemocrat who killed rosa luxemburg. 3/n
- a guy (Jayce) invents something and, without even having the time to make money out of it and grow some power, the council makes him their leader. Do the author even know what a power-struggle is? 4/n
- the bad guy (Silco) only wanted the poors to be autonomous from the ruling class, so, just to make us hate him, they made him into the ordinary person's favourite bogeyman: a drug dealer 5/n
- yeah, there are a few hotheads in the police and some corruption, but they are depicted as good-doers and heroes, generally. Idealists even in the highest ranks. Which is normal hollywoord bs but it's laughable if you're not an idiot. Never watched The Wire? 6/n
- Jayce picks up some cops and goes full swat into a drug factory. Like that, no further explanations needed. During the operation a kid gets killed and someone literally says "he chose to be there". After this death the leader decides to be done with violence for good. Lol. 7/n
- The kid worker who died in the factory was the son of one of the bosses of the undercity. If being a boss of the undercity doesn't spare you from having your kid working in a drug factory, what's the good in risking to be literally shot every day in your position? 8/8
