Sources : TN Government likely to deny permission to one Dr. R.G.Anand, an @RSSorg man to be part of the team headed by Ms. Priyank Kanoongo, National Commission for Protection of Child Rights (NCPCR) who plan to visit Thanjavur and conduct enquiries about the suicide of 1/4
a 17 year old girl which the BJP says is due to religious conversion.

The said RG Anand is a known RSS / BJP man and a former member of NCPCR. He is not a government official and a civilian. Though the government is bound to provide assistance to the NCPCR officials, 2/4
they are not under any compulsion to entertain a civilian accompanied by senior officers of the state. This fact has been communicated to the NCPCR following which the NCPCR has raised a hue and cry that TN Government is not cooperating with the Commission’s probe. 3/4
Sources say, TN government has formed a team to provide assistance to the NCPCR team but are firm that Dr. RG Anand, a private person should not be part of the team. 4/4

Sources : Muruganandham, father of the Thirukkattuppalli girl who committed suicide raises the question of forced religious conversion only on 24th January 2022 in a letter addressed to Thanjavur Collector, 5 days after the girl died. 1/4
Interestingly, he adds a few spice to the allegation of religious conversion. He says, the school administration offered to pay fee for the child if she converts to Christianity.

The fact is, for more than two years, it was the school staff who paid for the girl and 2/4
not the parents. As far as the parents are concerned, the deceased girl was an unwanted child.
