“The slavemaster took Tom and dressed him well, and fed him well, and even gave him a little education — a little education; gave him a long coat and a top hat and made all the other slaves look up to him. Then he used Tom to control them.” – Malcolm X
'When stripped to its modern bones (as opposed to its original literary roots as imagined by Harriet Beecher Stowe): the term Uncle Tom now refers to a person who colludes with their own communal oppression for personal (often petty) gain.'
'The black person so bought into their own debasement that they would happily sell-out their collective liberation attempts for a bowl or porridge or a biscuit.' - @Pravina_R excerpt from here mediadiversified.org/2018/10/11/in-…

'Why is Islamophobia having a moment now when it's been rarely covered before and if it was reported on, it was the victim who was seen as the problem and not the racism they were facing?
The Media writ large sensing blood in the water in for Boris Johnson, have leapt on this story but let me be clear this is not about tackling Islamophobia in any meaningful sense.
Instead it is an attempt to heap pressure on a struggling Prime Minister who has in the past wrote that veiled Muslim women reminded him of letterboxes.' '@UncleTrash

'When Zora Neale Houston coined the term “All my skinfolk ain’t kinfolk” she was definitely onto something. Especially if said non-kinfolk-skinfolk have built a career being the dependable Muslim, the one you go to when something is too Islamophobic for non-Muslim to say.
‘They’ get you to say it and you willingly do so. Someone so integrated in the racism factory that Michael Fabricant thinks you’re “hardly someone who is obviously Muslim.”
What does it mean to British Muslim communities when a visible Muslim who has built a career on ignoring issues which matter to Muslims and downright making material conditions harder for other Muslims, claims they have been discriminated against on account of their Muslimness?

• Bereaved families should not have to flag this up to a government agency
• How can deaths be prevented if there is no awareness of the deaths
• No accountability for implementing recommendations by PPO/Coroners/PFD’s.

'Body-worn cameras are quietly taking over London'
While police claim that body cams increase accountability, the proliferation of the tech raises questions over who it really serves. huckmag.com/art-and-cultur…
'n April 2020, police officers raided the house of 62-year-old Millard Scott searching for someone else connected with the property. A mere 35 seconds after police entered his home, Millard lay incapacitated at the bottom of his staircase, having been hit with a police taser.
A video of the incident – shared by his son, rapper Wretch-32 – led to widespread condemnation on social media. A month later, the Metropolitan Police said that “no indication of misconduct was identified in relation to any other officer”.
