@markushenn_de Trying to figure out which "Mary Schulte" did Carl marry...1922 marriage record says she was living Garrett - and her 1st husband died in 1917. Obit for John Henry Schulte, died 11 Juil 1917 in nearby Ft Wayne. Buried Lindenwood Cem. #GenChatDE newspapers.com/clip/93880885/…
@markushenn_de There is a Mary Fey buried at Lindenwood - named on same grave marker as "Schulte sons Ralph -&/ Earl". findagrave.com/memorial/62230… via @FindaGrave #GenChatDE
@markushenn_de @FindaGrave Grave is in Plot 0 - 151 - same plot as John Henry Schulte (see above), daughter Sophia Schulte Ferckel, son Harry. Earl and Ralph are sons of Mary’s son William. (see database on ACPL website.).
@markushenn_de @FindaGrave Is this Mary (Schulte) Fey the same Mary that Carl Fey married in 1922 in nearby Garrett? J H Schulte’s widow married Erwin Dunte in 1919 in Fort Wayne.
@markushenn_de If she were also Erwin’s widow, would’nt she have been listed as Mary Dunten in marriage record in 1922? She said she had only 1 previous husband…🧐

@markushenn_de Oh, je! Mary A. Dunten wants divorce from Erwin E. Dunten. She sacrificed $25/month pension to marry him - discovers he has "no financial standing," is ugly, surly, mean.newspapers.com/clip/93904551/…

@markushenn_de So how does Carl meet up with Mary in Garrett? Mary lived in Ft Wayne w/ 1st husband, 2nd husband was from Huntertown, just north of Ft Wayne and ca 10 miles south of Garrett. Where is she in the 1920 census?
@markushenn_de In Garrett - housekeeper for the widower Adam Coates' family. Coates is 35 yrs old, works as "Car Repairer" for the railroad. This puts Mary in the same location as Carl, and connects her to man of similar age and occupation as Carl Fey. #Matchmaker? ancestry.com/sharing/272685…
@markushenn_de 1920 Census says was 55, ca. 20 yrs older than Carl? Marriage rec w/Carl says DOB 6 Oct 1884 in Auglaize, OH. Marriage w/E. Dunten says DOB 6 Oct 1860. Burial record says she was 76Y 8M 2D at death on 8 Jun 1936 = DOB 6 Oct 1859.
@markushenn_de Was "1884" a mistake or intentional to hide the age difference? Is it coincidence that DOB is Oct 6 on each record, despite different years? Is this the same Mary in each record? I think so.
@markushenn_de So what happens to the couple after they marry in Garrett in 1922?
@markushenn_de They sell some of Mary's property in Ft. Wayne for $3,500 In 1923. newspapers.com/clip/92489846/…

@markushenn_de Did they stay in Garrett or move on? Where are they in the 1930 Census?
@markushenn_de Didn't find them in Garrett. Mary's brother died in New Bremen, Auglaize Co, Ohio in October 1930. His obituary lists a surviving sister "Mrs. Carl Fay, Grover Hill, O." ancestry.com/mediaui-viewer…
@markushenn_de Grover Hill is in Paulding Co, OH - 37 miles due east of Fort Wayne. 1930 US Census has a Carl Fay, farmer, age 58, born in Germany, and wife Mary age 69, born in Ohio, living in Washington Township, Paulding Co, Ohio.
