*Major Winter Storm Incoming Wednesday and Thursday*
A thread....
First salvo of precip comes in late Tuesday night with some light rain showers. Overnight colder air filters in and by Wednesday morning rain will be switching to snow.
Slowly but surely snow overtakes the whole area Wednesday. The early rain will prevent pre-treating the roads by crews. I expect slow, tough travel by Wednesday evening commute.
Wednesday is the first wave of this system. It is an incredible storm which could last nearly 48 hours for some. The second wave of the system arrives by early Thursday with the heaviest snowfall rates.
Snowfall will begin to taper off by very late evening Thursday. But wind during the day could gust over 25mph creating near blizzard conditions, especially on rural roads. Wind will be out of the NNE.
Snowfall totals over 10" are likely for all of northwest Ohio. Significant blow and drifting could make travel impossible Thursday. We have time before this system arrives so make preparations today and tomorrow. Download the WTOL 11 Weather App now to be ahead of this one.
