CNY Gala watch/bitch thread. Always interesting to see who makes an appearance during this. So far Liu Tao, Wulei, Zhou Rouyun, Liu Yu-Chun, one or all of the TF Boys, etc has made an appearance. Also, is it my imagination or are the men on stage wearing less makeup? +

+ Gods, that skit was so boring.

... Why are there fake elephants on stage? And ppl dressed in ethnic minority outfits with ppl dressed as animals? What is happening? Why is this happening? WTF am I watching? Feels like this should be an actual stage show? I'm so confused. +

+ Second skit was also so boring. I really liked the all female dance performance. So cool. It is like an ink painting that has been brought to live. I love how they had the poem & painting on the background (from black to colour), and the music with it is really good too. +

+ Holy fuck. OK, having the Wushu performances by men & women on top of these super/uber modern buildings half hidden by clouds is fucking awesome. The cinematography for this is so cool. And their clothing!!!! AAAAAH. This is what modern wuxia ppl would wear. SO COOL. +

+ Huh. That skit was ok, but it is Jia Ling, so I expect a certain level of quality. Tonight's music numbers has been pretty decent... Barring the elephants. OK, gonna start making dumplings now so might not make any more tweets for awhile.

+ I tell you what's confusing me. The lack of propaganda. This is throwing me a tonne. No propaganda about the government, the military or other essential services. Super confused. What's going on?!?

+ I spoke too soon. The next skit is about a doctor & a nurse married couple working in the pandemic; the stress they are under etc. Even then it isn't political, just about the personal stress & pressure. Then into a segment about archaeology & Chinese antiques... Which is +

+ actually kind of cool & snazzy. A three thousand year old bronze mask, and the segment is done with two dancers telling the story of the giant bronze mask. It is cute and very arty. Who the hell is the director this year? I'm still very confused. OMFG. OLD HK BAND?! +

Chen Kun, Sean Pang, Xiao Jinteng AND Jackson!? AHAHAHAHA. THIS IS THE SECOND LAST SEND OFF OF 2022. AHAHA (it's actually not bad). Honestly speaking, 2022 CNY gala has been rather OK? Like, nothing too cringe worthy, not too political (lack of propaganda freaking me out). +

+ It wasn't too boring or too exciting. It is actually less of a visual disaster. Just very evenhanded? Definitely an improvement from the past three years or so. And with that I'm signing off from this thread. Good fucking bye, 2021. I'm not sorry to see you go, you fucker.
