Brihaspati but couldn't locate him. Asuras knowing this, attack Devatas, who without guru's grace, fall defeated. They all along with Indra, run to Brahma . Brahma angry at Indra's deeds, says he cannot help find Brihaspati as his sin was Guru Apachara. Upon pleading, Brahma says

He needs to first find a guru as Brihaspati wouldn't be found, and suggests that VISHWAROOPA, son of TWATSA PRAJAPATI, who was born with 3 heads and who could recite all the three vedas with his three heads simultaneously. With no other choice, Indra rushes to VISHWAROOPA, and

Goes to DHADHICHI who happily sacrifices himself, and then vishwakarma makes a VAJRAYUDHA with his spine. Adorned with the VAJRAYUDHA, Indra goes to the battlefield against VRITTRASURA. VRITTRASURA says he knows that he would be killed by his VAJRAYUDHA as they were the words

Luckily for Indra who got Narayana kavacha upadesha from VISHWAROOPA, chants it and saves himself. He then gets on to VRITTRASURA and with his VAJRAYUDHA, cuts VRITTRASURA'S head. So huge was VRITTRASURAthat it took indra the entire period starting from dakshinayana to Uttarayana

That is a year to decapitate VRITTRASURA. Vishnu blesses VRITTRASURA with VAIKUNTHA PRAPTI,and says that if someone is passing through extreme difficulties, and has comitted a sin equal to Brahma hatya, then listening to the story of VRITTRASURA, will immediately free them of all
