BREAKING: The Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation confirmed to @tulsaworld on Tuesday that it has completed its years-long investigation into @EpicCharter Schools & turned over case to state attorney general for its consideration. #oklaed tulsaworld.com/news/local/edu…
The state auditor & inspector told lawmakers at the Capitol Tuesday that mismanagement by co-founders of Epic is “the largest amount of reported abuse of taxpayer funds in the history of this state” — and she has no idea why the attorney general has not brought criminal charges.
On Jan. 20, @Okla_OAG went on Tulsa radio station KRMG and said he was still waiting for OSBI’s report on Epic. Asked Tuesday afternoon for a comment or status update, O’Connor’s press secretary told @tulsaworld: “We cannot comment on open investigations.”
Amid these new Qs about inaction by state law enforcement, federal authorities including Internal Revenue Service are reportedly now zeroing in on financial irregularities alleged at Epic during decade school system was managed by co-founders Ben Harris & David Chaney. END THREAD

THREAD: State Auditor Cindy Byrd just dropped some bombshells about the investigation into ousted founders @EpicCharter during a speech in Tulsa.
tulsaworld.com/news/local/gov… #oklaed
First off, Byrd said neither Ben Harris and David Chaney nor their longtime CFO Josh Brock have been exonerated and the term of Oklahoma’s multicounty grand jury simply expired on Sept. 7, “before the case was finished.”
Still, Byrd said inaction by legislators or law enforcement or prosecutors in last 13 months since release of her investigative audit report left the door open for Harris and Chaney to “pocket” another $80 million for fiscal year 2021.
