Traders are channelling Del Boy Trotter as they try to flog thousands of pieces of Queen's Platinum Jubilee crockery with an unfortunate misprint. π
'Lovely Jubbly!' π
Commemorative plates, mugs, cups and saucers printed with the words 'Platinum Jubbly' are being flogged for a knockdown price.
The gaffe is reminiscent of a storyline straight out of legendary comedy Only Fools and Horses. πΈ
The mistake, made by a Chinese factory, is worthy of something dodgy dealer Del Boy would try to flog.
The typo is featured on 10,800 pieces of souvenir gear. π³
Designs also feature the Queen's portrait, royal coat of arms and the date of Her Majesty's record-breaking reign - to mark 70 years on the throne. πβ€οΈ
UK company Wholesale Clearance has stepped in to try and turn the flawed crockery into limited edition collectible items, in the hope they will appeal to Only Fools fans. π¬π§
Karl Baxter, the managing director of the Dorset based firm, is offering a 90% discount on a job lot of the crockery for just Β£32,400. πΈ
The company's website reveals that the original deal fell through after the shipment arrived at Southampton docks with the error. π’π³
"You will notice this is probably more at home on the shelf next to Peckham Spring as these are in fact celebrating the Queen's Platinum Jubbly! These are, as you say, the Creme de la Menthe! So if you are a fan of the Queen and Del Boy... two birds with one stone." π¬π§β€οΈ
