#StarWars is a shared universe, where many characters interact and share mutual storylines that invariably intertwine. This interwoven style of storytelling is not new. It has been happening for centuries. (thread part 2). #TheBookOfBobaFett
In a shared universe, you have an expansive mythology in which the actions of one individual or group will affect other characters and storylines. That is happening in #TheBookOfBobaFett and in my opinion, done at a very high level.
And if we are to accept the conceit that #TheBookOfBobaFett is in fact, a book (as the title of the series states), then that means this series follows a different set of guidelines, as well as a unique structure. A book incorporates different criteria. (Thread part 4) #StarWars
The challenge is that our familiarity with how many #StarWars stories are told has not followed this pattern where the main character is either not featured, or plays a small role. Granted, it is unconventional storytelling, but for me, it works beautifully. #TheBookOfBobaFett
And for me, that is what makes it work so well. It is unique, dare I say, revolutionary. It breaks the mold of conventional storytelling and requires us to look at things in a different light, just like many of the characters in #TheBookOfBobaFett are asked to do.(Thread 6)
Perhaps the most important aspect of this for me is that in a book, a convention of the medium is that the main character does not appear in every single chapter. However, the characters that do will advance the story. That is happening in #TheBookOfBobaFett (Thread 7)
And, once the book is done, it all pays off. If #TheBookOfBobaFett is a book (again, the title tells us it is), then that is what is happening before our eyes every week. It's a new way to tell a #StarWars story and is groundbreaking. I love that. (Thread 8)
Once the entire book has been presented and the full story of this book is told, I will have an idea of what the authors/creators intended. I like that #StarWars continues to reinvent itself and creatively push boundaries. #TheBookOfBobaFett (Thread 9)
To sum up: books don't require the protagonist to be featured in every chapter. #TheBookOfBobaFett is a hybrid "book", as the title states, so for me, this narrative works well. It is advancing the story and using the entire #StarWars sandbox, and that is rad. (Thread 10)
Once I have read/seen/experienced the full narrative of #TheBookOfBobaFett, I will have a better idea of how it all fits and whether or not it works. So far, it is working for me. So much fun to discuss with all of you here & on @CoffeeWthKenobi; thanks for your time! (Thread 11)
