JC is a dog person. Always has been always will be.

Wwx puts a wrench in those plans.

It was not fine.

JC gets a cat first. Well, he doesn't get it, exactly. One of the locals has several barn cats that hurt rodents, and if JC becomes their favorite human by bribing them with treats?

Well. That's neither here nor there

Back to the dog thing, you see, JC has no idea

how to take care of other animals. But his dogs were happy when he had them, and they're all animals right?

So same thing, different floof

Wwx catches him playing fetch with the cats.

(Fetch is a staple of owning a dog. The bare necessity. Of course he taught the cats)

Wwx held back and watched as several cats twined between his shidi's legs, one of them with a stick in its mouth

And JC grabbed the stick, flicked it a few times to get their attention, and then flung it down the street.

And all five of those cats chased after it.

Once they caught it, they played for a few moments. But it wasn't as fun as chasing so the winner trotted back to JC to go again.

Wwx "Shidi! I didn't know you had cats! 😍💜"

Jc "They're not mine. They're just.. street cats"

(Jc tolerated wwx's arm over his shoulders for *10* seconds before throwing it off. His grumpy shidi was in such a good mood 🌸)

Wwx "But you taught your *not* cats to play fetch! Aaahhh that's so cute!"

Reaching down to pet one of the cats, an orange tabby,

It flopped over, offering its belly for scritches.

(Wait... fetch + belly rubs = Do-)

Wwx "Shidi! Are you treating the cats like d-dogs?!"

Jc "No!" (Yes, he definitely was) "Get off of me wwx! Don't you have other people to bother?!"

And that was the start of it. Wwx liked (most) animals, but he wasn't one to seek them out like his precious shidi.

And it didn't stop there, oh no. Cats were only the beginning.

Later, after everything was said and done, and jc was alone in LP with no annoying

brothers to harass him for teaching cats to fetch- his disciples would watch from a distance.

As the feared and respected Sandu Shengsho would pet every cat, feed the birds and the fish- and wonder, 'was this the same man who absolutely wrecked them every morning???'

It became a Thing. The SIC would find the laziest cat, pluck him from the warm dusty streets, and then plop them in SLJs lap.

"What is this?"
"A cat, sir"
"I can see that, why is it in my lap?"
"He looked like he needed a nap"
"SIC I have drills to run in 15mins"

"Looks like I'll be running them,sir"
"The hell you will!"
"Ssshhhh, it's illegal to wake a sleeping cat"

And if JC was slowly scratching his ears as he slipped out the

door, well, everyone knew SLJ had a soft spot for animals.

The trick of making Jiang "workaholic" Cheng rest worked everytime, and surprisingly never lost its efficiency.

The only time his love if animals was not appreciated was when the pair of swans,

who had grown used to getting treats from the purple man accidently mistook a few disciples as SLJ.

And those poor disciples didn't have any treats on them. While swans maybe beauty and grace, they were not nice. And their wings were surprisingly powerful as they

proceeded to beat up and harass the unfortunate disciples.

(Others uad heard the commotion, but instead of helping they doubled over laughing)

After the Swan Incident, every disciples got a pouch full of grain the day they got their purple robes.

"Never go anywhere w/out it"

Fin! It's kinda choppy, but 🤷🏼‍♀️

(Inspired by cats who we accidently taught to play fetch. And the gaggle of geese who attacked my friend when they ran out of cracked corn at the park - and me, who was hysterically laughing and no help at all)

(Oh shit! I forgot JL and Fairy nooooo!! OK, here's a short epilogue)

JC, with his menagerie of animals, was very quickly named 'favorite uncle'. Even when Jgy tried to win him over with a dog, nope, didn't work. Bc now, his cool juijui was teaching him how to train

Little Fairy- bc he had dogs when he was JLs age. And juijui would let Fairy sleep hin JLs bed and he would play fetch with Fairy (and the cats) and sneak Fairy treats

And juijui was the best

(And when wwx came back he saw-from a distance-Fairy surrounded by a pack of cats

And was hit with nostalgia so strong he stumbled (into lwj's arms). His shidi still had those cats that acted like dogs)
