I like Below Deck but there were a few major failings this season. No white person has any excuse for using the racist epithet or its adjacent form used in rapping, even if they are rapping. No white person has any excuse ever. Not even to tell a story about someone saying it

And a Black person who is offended by a white person using that word does not have to forgive that person, no matter how many times they apologize. That can be a permanent bar to any relationship with complete justification.

But Rayna should have had the wherewithal to tell Heather she is not forgiven and will never be forgiven. That's a perfectly justifiable reaction and she has no need to forgive her.

And then AFTER Rayna finally tells her the truth, that she is not forgiven, Heather importunes Rayna the next morning, saying I understand you will never forgive me but please forgive me and pressuring her for yet another it's okay rapprochement.

And we all know that this was again, giving in to the pressure put on her by Heather in an unequal relationship and she still does not forgive her because why would she? I think they are both wrong and .... poor Wes. he did not deserve to be told he is not Black.

And yes, I blame Eddy and Captain Lee for not stepping in when Rayna first told Eddy. Eddy should have immediately told Capt. Lee and Capt. Lee should have asked Kate to come save the season.

And really, Bravo should make it clear that if someone says that word on camera, no matter how drunk they are, they will be fired immediately. No finish out the season BS.

By unequal relationship, I mean that Heather carried white privilege, but ALSO the status of being management to Rayna's status of deckhand. Heather was not HER manager but she was management.
