I just called @fordnation's office at 416-325-1941. After a 5 minute wait in the queue, a lovely woman named Cheryl answered my call.
I suggested she add my call "to the pile of calls" I assume they are receiving on this.
/1
I told her I was calling to plead with our Premier to step in & end the occupation of Ottawa immediately.
I told her that residents are sick & tired of the disruption to our city & we are gravely disappointed in the lack of response from our municipal and provincial gov't.
/2
She offered to relay this to the Premier. I asked if she speaks directly to him, or his people.
She explained that she is a civil servant and he is a politician and there is a clear delineation btw the 2.
She told me that she works for me and the residents of Ontario.
/3
She explained the process:
- call takers note and relay each call to the Premier's people.
- call takers do not get feedback from the Premier's office in the form of a response to callers.
- they are getting lots of calls of this nature and handling each one this way.
/4
I told her that I understand a convoy may be immobilizing to form at Queen's Park this weekend based on information I have read online. She shared my understanding of this.
I told her I hope Torontonians do not experience even 10% of the disruption that we in Ottawa have had.
/5
I asked her to note that Ottawa is currently a "powder keg" and it is a matter of time before Ottawa residents take matters into their own hands and take our city back. I specifically asked her to note those words as I said them.
/6
I also told her that I, & many Ontario residents that I know, have very firmly marked June 2 on our calendars & that we will not forget our Premier's lack of response to this. She laughed with me, not at me.
She thanked me for my call & repeated that she'll relay my comments.
/7
I encourage all Ontario residents to do as I did. The call, start to finish, took 12 minutes of my time. This thread took longer to type. #GoHomeFluTruxKlan

Dear City of Ottawa residents, I'd just like to point out some things to you:
- We're going to have a municipal election to elect a new mayor and City Councillors on Monday, October 24, 2022.
- Current mayor, @JimWatsonOttawa will not be running for mayor.
/1
- Current long-serving Ward 10 City Councillor, @dianedeans has announced her candidacy as mayor.
- Ms. Deans is currently the chair of the Ottawa Police Services Board ottawapoliceboard.ca/opsb-cspo/abou… /2
- The Ottawa Police Services Board (OPSB) and the @OttawaPolice have done nothing for Ottawa residents to end the occupation of Ottawa by the #klutruxklan.
- Ward 22 City Councillor Carol-Anne Meehan also sits on the Police Services Board. /3
Feeling the need to post a thread 🧵. Here goes: 4 hours ago, I dropped off my 3 daughters at school for the 1st time since mid-December. I fucking broke down watching them in their poorly fitting adult KN95 masks walk into the school yard. /1
They were greeted at the gate by staff wearing blue surgical masks. I was tempted to approach the staff and ask where their Ministry-supplied masks were, but I was bawling my eyes out at this point. I returned to my car and loudly ugly-cried. /2
I feel like I am putting my kids in harm’s way by bringing them to school. I feel like having them home isn’t an option. We, as parents, have no choice, and our gov’t that provides education and health care has failed us & our kids by forcing them back into unsafe schools. /3
