A longish thread but please take the time to read.
So I don’t jump around much. 1 or 2 projects to a chain. It’s just because I enjoy camaraderie, community, a bit of a laugh, some good banter and wherever possible, sharing and caring for one another.

Communities either have it or they don’t. They either have ‘people’ that have it, or they don’t.

And so this was my experience today.

I decided to list an NFT. A @BorgClubNFT. I mistakenly set the price at 7A instead of 750A.
IKR!
So I tried frantically to delist immediately.

But the chain wanted to get to work on the tx with haste and I can’t really complain about that considering how challenging it’s been for everyone lately with the growing pains we’ve been experiencing.

So POOF! there my Borg goes, up in smoke!

6 sales in progress and 1 would-be delist (mine of course) for the one single Borg. Crazy right? who would have thought that people would jump at a Borg for 7A! (floors around 420A at the time.)
So not surprisingly, within minutes the community was all over it.

The hot subject and topic of conversation in Borg Discord was now the 7A sale. And rightfully so. 7A instead of 750A. That’ll do it!
So with face in hands, feeling pretty wounded, I jump in to discord and owned up to being ‘Fat Finger Freddie’
And then this happens.

People start commenting things like, “I tried to buy it man, don’t know it was a mistake, not sure if I got it, but if I did then I’ll send it straight back to you!” people are hunting around on pool trying to track down the buyer, even maybe trying to identify a wallet Pfp.

Everyone was just trying to help in any way they could.
But the thing that humbled me the most, was the outpouring of care, love and generosity. And none more so than @grpcameron Probably at the point when we all started to accept the fact that it was gone for good now.

Cameron reaches and says this;
“Hey....Sorry about what happened.....I'm not the guy who bought your Borg but if you send me your address, I will send you one of mine. I've got a few extras anyway👍”
To which, with the upmost love and respect, i said that I could not accept.

I guess Iv’e always believed wholeheartedly in owning my stuff in life. No matter how big or small. And this was on me. It wasn’t on the person who fairly and innocently purchased the Borg. It wasn’t on the community and it certainly wasn’t on grpcameron. It was my mistake.

But after I took a moment to really think about it, to think about what had just happened and what it all meant. Another line of thought entered my mind.
And it was this; there’s a thing that I have come to realise, more so, later in my life.

And that’s how important it is to allow people the grace, and opportunity to do good in the world and not rob them of those few, special and important moments they have to be able to do good for others.
why? Because it makes ‘them’ feel good.
In grpcameron’s words in a dm to me.

He said “I’m just paying it forward.... Enjoy”
And that feeling is often even greater than it is for the receiver. It’s a powerful thing to be able to do good things for others, when the opportunity presents itself. Sometimes we can even create these opportunities ourselves.

Particularly when it’s least expected. And for that I want to say, thank you Cameron. Thank you for being you. Thank you for showing love, care and generosity, and for being an example. Thank you for making our community stronger and better.

Twitter since 2011, 31 followers. This good human isn’t trying to win a popularity contest. He’s not trying to get people to follow him. He’s just being a good human being.
And so with this, I now realise the opportunity that I have.
