1: Global & Perpetual right to use the image of players for everything; including promotions or ads, WITHOUT LIMITATION.
Valve could use the image of players with any brand without having to ask for permission from teams or players, forever.
Creating risk and conflicts.
1.3 - a warranty that this release does not in any way conflict with any existing commitment from the players.
Which is impossible to give as this release is already clearly in conflict with almost all existing legal commitments of the players... with their teams, sponsors etc.
1.5 - Valve is protecting itself from any claims that could araise due to the use of the "likeness" of players.
Potentially including any wrong-doing, hurting the image of a player by doing a specific campaign etc.
1.6 - waive from any "successors" or rights holders of players
Just a quick thread to raise awareness and to avoid some players signing some documents too soon without understanding what it means.
We are investigating and working on it.
ps: it's also causing breaches for teams also with their commitments and contracts with their sponsors and partners.
If you wonder what the registration' signup for Teams and Players, and terms/rights release looks like as of today.
It's not a proper contract and this is pretty easy to just "click".
I'm not sure it fits the "The acceptance must be legally binding (e.g., valid signatures)."
To all players, this year... do NOT click on "I agree to the above terms.", if it hasn't been reviewed and properly validated, please.
