Our report uncovers China's massive colonial boarding school system in Tibet. 800,000 - 900,000 Tibetan children ages 6-18 are separated frm their parents & families in schools designed to strip them of their identity. This # doesn't include 4 & 5 yr-olds in boarding pre-schools.
Tibetan parents have no choice but to send their children away to these schools. All alternatives are being shut down, incl. local rural schools & Tibetan-run private & monastery schools. They are threatened & penalized if they resist & they not free to protest or push 4 change.
China's colonial boarding schools aim to eliminate Tibetan identity by making children learn primarily in Chinese, cutting them off frm their religion & cultural roots & turning them into patriotic citizens loyal to the Communist Party through intensive political indoctrination.
