Ferrari created a division to develop its brand in metaverse

Ferrari NV, already an automaking icon in the real world, is now looking to bolster its brand also in the metaverse.
The Italian maker of luxury cars has set up a department focusing on digital services that’s exploring opportunities arising from the space that blends virtual reality, gaming and social media, Chief Executive Officer Benedetto Vigna said Wednesday.
The push also includes technologies such as blockchain and NFT.

U.K. fintech investment surged 617% to top £27 billion last year

British fintech firms attracted $37.3 billion of investment last year, up from $5.2 billion in 2020.

The number of completed deals rose by more than a quarter to 601.
The U.K. was home to five of the ten largest fintech deals in Europe, the Middle East and Africa last year.
Globally, fintech investment rose about 70% to more than $210 billion last year, stoked by interest in crypto and blockchain technology. EMEA saw $77 billion of the total,
including $18.5 billion invested in the Nordic region and $5.4 billion in Germany.
The deals boom for payments companies worldwide took their share of investment to $51.7 billion, while a record $30 billion was invested in blockchain and crypto offerings.

Sony buys game developer Bungie for $3.6 billion

Sony Group Corp. is purchasing Bungie Inc., the U.S. video game developer behind the popular Destiny franchise, for $3.6 billion to bolster its stable of game-making studios.
The deal announced on Monday is the third significant video-game acquisition announced this month, following Microsoft Corp.’s purchase of Activision Blizzard for $69 billion two weeks ago and Take Two Interactive Corp. snagging mobile game leader Zynga Inc. on Jan. 10.
